More Panic Time at KTVU: Heather Holmes Seriously Wants Out

41 comments:

  1. Heather's unflagging loyalty to KTVU proved to be her undoing. Once again, failure to read the room. The signs are always there and avoidance doesn't make them go away. She should have been long gone from this debacle. Other factors contributing to her staying? Sure. I understand she has a daughter in college. Who knows? Unfortunately, she is hardly in a position of strength right now and ultimatums never work out to your benefit. I see her departure as more or less doing them a favor. Too bad.

Exactly. She should have split ten years ago.

  2. Letting Holmes walk would be merely just the latest mistake in a long and dubious line of mistakes made by KTVU management...essentially since Dennis Richmond retired. Call it "The FOX Effect" I guess

  3. I don't blame HH. They have treated her shittily since Julie retired. She waited patiently for her turn and then they blindsided her. I would like to see her wave goodbye with her middle finger. But they wouldn't care because they wouldn't know good from drek.

  4. Heather is the best. Look at the 730 show. Enough said.

  5. This story is outrageous ! Heather wants OUT of KTVU yet I want to get in to Heather. Rich, what are my chances? 75-100% IN or an abysmal 50-74% IN? She exudes pure cougar DNA. ROAR !!

  7. I work at KTVU. Heather is the hardest worker here, and we really like her. She is getting screwed because of stupid management and politics. Losing her would be a damn disaster as she is the best that we have, so her leaving would be a huge hole in our lineup. She is not replaceable, trust me. She is the anchor glue that keeps this place running.

    1. 2:25 I understand wholeheartedly. The power vacuum started with Sommerville's departure. Losing Holmes would essentially be the coup de grace, the veritable fatal blow, dagger through the heart..which may or may not be the agenda. New start, fresh faces and hope the aging demographic withers up and dies during the holidays.

  8. Was it all that long ago that we were told she has all the personality and skill of a Macy’s, or Emporium, Cosmetics Counter Gal?
What changed? She still seems cold and calculating, but not in a good way.
Warmth? None. But does she keep in time with the band??
Gasia needs to go. Both Gasia and Darya need to return to making lousy cupcakes and hitting the rum.

  9. Let me get this straight: KTVU is perfectly fine running a nightly rotation of completely inept female anchors paired with Mike Mibach, even if it means letting Heather Holmes walk out the door? This pathetic mismanagement symbolizes just how far ktvu has sunk..

    1. To truly grasp how far KTVU has sunk, one need look no further than their latest promotion: they’re actually begging viewers to mail them a holiday card. Yes, you heard that right. In return, their news anchors will sign a card and send one back. That’s the level of ego inflation these self-aggrandizing assholes have reached.

    2. 7:35. So the custodian or cleaning lady has the best penmanship then? Probably, added a holiday greeting oozing with pretension and insincerity.

I'm soooooo glad I got out of that sh*thole business years ago.

  10. If Heather, with all her traits and characteristics and history, were black instead of white, she would’ve had Julie’s job the second Julie signed off of her final newscast.

    1. Yep, and for no other reason than they’d be fearful of the backlash if heaven forbid they didn’t give the job to a black female.

    2. Hiring untalented people of color is ND Simone and GM Mel’s MO. If you call them out you’re racist. DEI rules the day.

  11. @2:25 Thanks for your input. That's great to hear that she's respected there. I hope she doesn't leave and they give her what she has been waiting for. Personally, though, I like seeing her at 7:30 and 4.

  13. She is the classic case of nice person finishes last. For years, she's been the good soldier that's filled in where needed. After paying her dues, she can't even fill a vacated position. KTVU screwed her over and she should move on and not look back.

  14. Frankly speaking all Bay-Area TV's and most radio's management sucks, look at yesteryear say 30 years ago, those managements knows how to run the business

  15. Watching Heather now at 7:30 and can't imagine why KTVU hasn't given her a permanent primetime anchor position. She speaks clearly, interacts well, and is a very good interviewer. KTVU Mgmt is dropping the ball.

    1. I tape the 7:30 because of her. If she is on, I watch. If she is not, then, I FF to weather, then erase it. Heather is the only reason I even think of spending a precious thirty minutes on channel two. If she goes, I go, but they don't care. Adios amigos bean counters.

    2. @9:24 Heather's 7:30 newscast is a treat after a long work day. She has a calming presence, even with the most traumatic stories and her live interviews are absolutely flawless.

  17. It is just a sad situation. KTVU should be ashamed of itself. Heather is perfect for lead anchor.

  18. If Heather is the best you have on the station, you are in real trouble.

  19. As an objective, infrequent KTVU viewer I'm at a loss as to why Holmes is not the main female 10pm news anchor. She would seem to have all the intangibles in her favor over her competition, i.e. appearance, delivery, presence, track record and tenure. Yet KTVU brass sees something in a lightweight like Mibach, go figure...

  20. Heather is the best. Very professional, articulate , and was beautiful. She needs to be prime time perhaps network.
