But speaking of Yu, it’s hard to ignore how tone-deaf she comes off when she’s wearing her signature $2,300 puffy vest while covering stories about people struggling to make ends meet. Just recently, she did a live report on families barely affording food for the holidays, followed by another from a food bank where people were literally lined up for a free meal. And there she is, looking like a walking disconnect, draped in a vest that costs more than most people's rent. It's the kind of absurdity that smacks you in the face—the epitome of "out of touch."
I agree that the ktvu holiday card is utterly pathetic. If they were smart they'd end this promotion now and issue a formal apology to their viewers. But we all know they aren't smart which means they'll double down, just like they've done with Mike Mibach at 10pm. As far as Betty Yu and Tom Vacar: Betty, the attention seeker that she is, is probably all bitter that they didn't ask her to be on the card. And, Tom, well he's just a crotchedly old man who'll take issue with anything and everything.
Gasia, she should be the new 10:00 anchor with Andre Senior, kick Mike Mibach back to the field for being a bully to female anchors. If he is not a bully, you tell me why KTVU won’t hire a permanent female anchor. And no Betty Yu please!!!

Just when you think it can't get worse. It does. The KTVU website seems to think "black friday" is connected to black owned business. An AI generated website? Or KTVU stupidity. Or both Both.
I heard the same thing. This morning KTVU hkept running that story suggesting that Black Friday was created to support small, Black-owned businesses. That’s completely false. The term Black Friday has nothing to do with that. The name was actually coined because, historically, businesses would move from the red (operating at a loss) to the black (becoming profitable) as holiday shopping kicked off. It's an accounting term, not a push to promote Black businesses.
I really hope you’ll cover this, Rich, and set the record straight. ktvu is nothing more than a peddler of misinformation.
Rich, I’m with you, this holiday card gimmick is a bad look, no question. But I wouldn’t fault the six anchors featured on it. Like it or not (pun intended), participating in promotional stunts is a core part of their job, even if it’s cringeworthy. While they’d never admit it publicly, I have zero doubt that, behind closed doors, all six are rolling their eyes and sharing the same disgust you’ve expressed.
Rich did you see ktvu’s commercial for the holiday card? (Yes, you heard that right). In it, the “Phony Four” (Pam Clark, THE GAS, Dave Clark, and Andre Senior) sit around the table writing and signing cards and then they all drive to a mailbox together to mail them. It’s so embarrassing.
