KTVU is Clueless, Yes, What Else is New

  1. Is KTVU trying to save $$$ not putting a permanent female anchor next to Mike Mibach? Julie retired months months months ago, keep rotating different female anchor each week like what it or not. They should consider putting different male anchor next to Mike instead of female.

    1. Mibach standing next to a taller guy will not be a good look. See him standing with taller females like Heather now.

    2. It's likely a cost saving measure made by inept management. Rather than committing to the higher salary and benefits of a full-time, prime-time anchor, they've turned what was once a coveted position into little more than a fill-in role, one that's available to any female who just happens to be in the building at the moment and/or available cover the shift. By rotating a different anchor each day, they're exploiting the common job description clause, "other duties as assigned." It's obnoxious to see and signals that they're no longer a serious news operation.

    3. Rich, do you have any insights on WHY ktvu is rotating through a difference female anchor each night? This has gone on for several months now and it's only become worse. This would make for a good future broadcast.

    4. To make matters worse, Mike Meeback is the one constant we’re stuck with every night. Why not give Heather the permanent role and let a rotating cast of utterly unqualified MALE anchors fill in instead? Lord knows ktvu has no shortage of those on their payroll.

  2. they should put tori Gaines in anchor slot with Meebach at Ch. 2. She screws up names, pronunciation + info with BEST OF THEM. A natural fit. All us here at KRON 4 miss her so. If only they let her report here our incompetence could have reached new levels.

  3. Hope Betty’s boyfriend’s investor restauranteur friends didn’t get food on her $2,000 vest as they were wining and dining her for her story tonight. What a disgrace. Time to turn like it or not into LIVE in Betty’s Bay and just own that you’re a joke station now KTVU.

    1. @11:05 what a PR trap of a story KTVU must be so proud

  4. Mike Mibach was decent in the mornings, so maybe he could swap with Andre Senior. They need to stick to a set lineup, especially with Heather Holmes.

Bill Martin can't read a simple weather forecast. I mean, Roberta Gonzales is way past her prime, but at least she speaks clearly and brings good energy. Bill is a train wreak.

  5. As a long-time KTVU viewer, I’ve been increasingly disappointed by the decline in quality over the past few years, a shift that became especially noticeable after Frank Somerville’s departure. During that time, Julie Haener seemed to be hanging on, delivering lackluster performances when she even bothered to show up, which became increasingly rare.

Now, with a nightly revolving door of mediocre-at-best female anchors and the consistently underwhelming Mike Mibach at the helm, the broadcast feels disjointed and frustrating to watch. The absence of a stable, cohesive team has completely eroded the newscast’s credibility and its connection to the audience. I’ve reached the point where I’ve stopped tuning in entirely. If they don’t care enough to put out a watchable product then I don’t care enough to watch.

Great decision. I stopped watching all ktvu news about a year ago and haven’t looked back, not for a second, not even for a millisecond. The only time I really watch now is for NFL games, and even then, their cringeworthy commercials for their pitiful Like It or Not show serve as a perfect reminder: I made the right choice to dump them like a bad habit. Welcome to the bright side, where ktvu news is nothing more than a distant memory.

  6. Rotating seems the way to go anymore...look at KCBS.

  7. Definitely not a fan of this "one-anchor at a time"-lineup. A consistent line up would be best... But to think outside of the box for a moment:

What's so bad/wrong with just one anchor at a time? Why is it (so) important to have 2 anchors paired on-air at a time?

Don't get me wrong: I loved seeing Dennis Richmond and Rebecca Coral back in the day!

  8. Tori Gaines, during a live hit this morning, said, 'SFO is expecting more than 160 passengers today.'

At this point, it seems the only requirement for getting a job at ktvu is an inability to make it through a sentence without offering false or botched information.

    1. The only qualification for getting a job at ktvu is that you be unqualified.

    2. Was Tori's insightful comment made before or after she stopped reporting to pick her phone up off the ground?
