Cumulus closing Battery Street and requiring all hosts to go to Santa Clara is nothing more than their way of forcing most of their hosts to quit. They know damn well Brian Murphy is not going to drive from Mill Valley to Santa Clara every morning at 4 am and Markus Boucher has been open about the fact he lives in the city and doesn't even own a car! Maybe one of the producers who double as an Uber driver will drive him down every morning at 4 am. Not to mention, they also announced that DEREK Papa will take be Adam Copeland's new co-host beginning in December. KNBR is officially down the toilet.
@5:49- I honestly don't know how the Santa Clara thing is going to work. What are they going to do when it's baseball season and they'll have to get to Giants events in SF at Oracle Park or when they do remote shows from Oracle Park? They have/had a nice new studio at their Battery St. location and it was closer to everything in SF (Oracle Park, Chase Center, remote locations for sports bars that are in SF or a BART ride away from SF, etc).
Yeah, during football season this could work, especially since Greg Papa does a lot of his shows from Levi's Stadium anyway and Larry Krueger is in Santa Clara almost daily during football season. During baseball season, I can see this being more problematic for all the hosts. From what I understand a lot of the hosts either live in SF or the East Bay. As you mentioned, Brian Murphy lives in Marin County. Ain't no one trying to go down to Santa Clara from SF, Marin County, or the East Bay. LOL.
Regarding Derek Papa, he has his own podcast and has shown through that, that he can carry a show. Yeah, podcasting is different from an on-air live show on the radio, but it will be interesting to see how his show with Copes will look and sound like. He can always get pointers from his Dad, Greg Papa, and I'm sure Greg Papa will help him out as well. Derek said he will ask John Lund for advice.
Can't believe it took recent polling data for them to finally realize maybe they should move 560 over to 810 despite 810 being long dead. And "legal" sports gambling is coming to California with the sweepstakes loophole, but most of those companies seem to associate with iheart for whatever reason. And Bonneville moving the station group to Daly City is like going above and beyond nowadays.
So KGO is basically coming back as a right-wing talk station? Great. Just what the Bay Area wants. Seriously, ALL talk radio is right-wing. One of the great things about KGO was that it offered a different viewpoint. Now all talk radio is exactly the same. What a shame.
Why oh Why would the Niners allow the ShitShow of KNBR to stink up there broadcast room? Seems like the Niners are desperate these days. Look what mediocrity did for KNBR !! No way to sugar coat it - KNBR at Levis is a bad look for everyone involved. I have said it before and I will say it again: Niners Giants Warriors Sharks Quakes should buy a 50,000 Watt Flame-Thrower and dominate the airwaves. Get rid of the kids playing Fantasy sports and hosts who’s game faded in Marin 1971, and Danville 1991.
How cumulus, which has fucked up just about everything that touches here in the Bay Area has survived this long is a mystery. They must have some shadowy, Rich owner who cackles sadisticallh whenever he sees or hears about somebody being cut loose from a station he owns..

@9:02 pretty sure it's temporary, just to keep the lights on. Once baseball is back, I could see them moving into Oracle, then it's anyone's guess.

Nobody was listing on 560 and now simulcast on 810 great move. Ai least 810 spread was different programming.
