McElhatton left KCBS because the gm either forgot or didn't know Mac's contract was soon to expire. Mac thought KCBS didn't want him so he fled to KPIX. At that point KCBS' ratings began to fall. It was nothing Luckoff or Swanson did at KGO Radio. KCBS shot itself in the foot and KGO headed upward. Many decades later KGO returned the favor by firing it's talk show hosts and going almost all news. That's the real story.
That's nice of Rich L. to remember them. There are/were so many. Some keep working in the business, elsewhere; some leave the business for other jobs/careers; some just go away and most everyboy loses track of them whether alive or not. I noticed Darya F. was gone for weeks but was now back this Monday (perhaps just a long vacation with her birthday mixed in those dates). I've seen a good handful in Los Angeles area working there after leaving the SFBayArea.
Agree on male anchors. I'll add a few female anchors to the list like: Suzanne Shaw, Dana King, and Anna Chavez.
ReplyDeleteMarcia Brandwyne?

Susan Blake?
