Incomprehensible: The Saturday Morning KCBS Quagmire with Raquel Maria-D...

  1. Completely agree.....lots of awkward silences. She also had some mispronounciations. She's not a bad reporter though.

    1. To put it nicely, she sounds like shit. 💩 No broadcasting school voice.
A sharp contrast between the CBS top of the hour news. (That has a professional sounding sexy female voice)
Then comes the KCBS shit-show voice.

    2. She's a damn good reporter. I followed her at KQED and was surprised that she didn't stay there given that they have a superior news Operation. I heard her performance two different Saturdays and having been a broadcaster myself I give KCBS a lot of credit for trying to expand her skill set. We know that Saturday morning is not a prime time for radio which is why you usually hear the garden shows and that kind of stuff. So it was a perfect spot to try her out. She fumbled a few times, that's the wrong buttons, had some dead air, but so what? She got the job done and she will be better next time.

  2. A good manager puts its employees in a position to succeed, and a bad manager puts its employees in a position to fail. Raquel's manager is the latter.

  3. I agree KCBS was another S*%T Show today. And what is going on with all these helium balloon sucking reporters with high pitched voices.

    1. Between Raquel and Pat Thurston, I have to listen from the toilet. I can’t hold it in.

  5. Totally agree. RMD has no training and doesn't have the talent to be an anchor. If you want to listen to her, there's supposedly a rewind or replay feature on the station's website but it may be good only for the past 24 hours.
Haven't heard Nicky Medoro nor Meghan Goldsby for some time now so I'm assuming they no longer work for the station. I think the station has reached the bottom of the barrel when they assign news reporters to anchor. Only a few reporters can handle it if they have the skills to be trained.
Even the Youth Radio commentators do a better job than RMD. They sound much more professional. Too bad the station can't offer then an internship to do fill-ins when needed.

  6. On Sunday, KNBR played a pre-recorded sports segment from Saturday. Just embarrassing.

  7. KCBS is trying to help expand her skill set. I think that's commendable. I heard both days and yes she was very rough on the edges but she will develop in time. I think she will do just fine.
