I don’t think forced laughing started recently. Back in the 70s sitcom producers decided to induce laughter noise after each actor said practically anything. To this day you will see this in the few current sitcoms catering to their type of audiences. I know from flipping channels. The stupid game shows I took a listen to are similar to radio these days; phony pandering laughter. Doctors say laughter is good for your health but probably that means the genuine kind.
The Cheeto bad mouths CNN, but I think it's a quality station, especially for breaking news.
