While I commend your dedication to pursuing this story, and while I acknowledge that the truth surrounding Renel's departure likely lies somewhere in the middle, it's highly improbable that Renel would go 'scorched earth' and burn bridges with an organization she devoted 25 years of her life to just to provide the 'truth' on this site. Despite its seeming insignificance, the Giants bestowed upon her an honorary title, named the PA suite after her, and have plans to formally honor her in front of fans during the regular season. Thus, I find it hard to believe that her departure was due to an "ugly divorce," and I don't envision Renel as the type to tarnish anyone's reputation.
Regarding speculation about whether the current ownership's political beliefs or stance on social issues played a role in Renel's departure, it remains just that — speculation. I have not come across any reporting that directly links any of those factors to Renel's decision to leave.
@2:32- Agreed. Even though Rich's intentions are good here, at the same time, Renel probably doesn't want to ruin her new position with the Giants by doing public interviews like this.
With that being said though, it really would be good to hear her side of the story one day whether it's through local news media outlets, or through Rich, or through Damon Bruce, or possibly through 95.7 or KNBR.
When I heard “Racial Implications” from Rich I thought the same thing. Here is another cause for Somerville to grandstand on. “Would never happen to a white pretty female public address announcer” — I can hear that spiel now.
It doesn't look good when the Giants bring in Glen Kuiper on the down low, and don't offer a new contract to Renel. Still waiting on any Giants brass to provide some 411 on the Kuiper hire.
I wasn't aware that Renel had claimed that she was the only reason people go to Giant's games. When and where did she do that? She was a very popular, lively, great pipes, sense of fun announcer, part of the ambiance of the experience. She still should be. How did she prevent you from seeing the games? She did not.
It is in jest to call you into action as you seem to be the self-appointed advocate to point out racism. In the tv news business back in the day, upper management of the station (not an anchor) would come on the air to say something in a station opinion piece clearly designated as such. You have a huge ego so it had to be you at KTVU but your bosses were not on board; so they stopped you. Yea, I want to contact someone with drinking and anger management issues.
They traded Willie Mays, everyone is expendable...
ReplyDeleteI would love to hear Renel’s side of the story and she can be confident that Rich will do a fair and impartial job on the interview
ReplyDeleteShe probably has a non disclosure agreement that she can’t disclose anything or give up her severance.

DeleteThis is Frank. I don’t get what you’re saying. Can you explain. Or better yet call me. My number is 510-388-3649.
DeleteShe was no Max Patkin. Now that was talent!
ReplyDeleteWho's a good PA announcer? They're all fairly dry. It's not like a radio DJ where you can show some personality.

ReplyDeleteFor crying out loud She's a PA announcer.. NOBODY ever went to the stadium to listen to her. THEY went to see the games
