  1. KDFC's website, under "About Us" gives a comprehensive history. In 1948, 3 men principally involved in station sales, engineering & general management (Messrs Davis, Florance, and Crocker) used their surname initials to create the call-sign KDFC. Sometime in the 1980s, I recall Herb Caen's column offered an appropriate quote from someone long-associated with the station. That now-forgotten individual said the call-letters stood for "Damn Fine Concerts."

  2. KKHI was better - but glad KDFC carries on!

  3. KDFC helps anytime, but even more so in lousy traffic.
And it beats the KRAP out of KNBR any time during the day.
So glad that you too enjoy KDFC Rich

  4. All female announcers from 6am-midnight (Maggie Clennon Reberg, Diane Nicolini, Robin Preesman and Lara Downs): I’ve been a faithful 24/365 listener for 5 years after abandoning KCBS and KNBR. ONE MORE

KDFC Rules. All female announcers 6am-midnight. No ads. I’ve learned so much about classical music over the past five years. Try YouTube for Gustav Mahler’s Adagietto for a sample of what’s in store. Great station. It’s on 24/7 in my house, garage and car.
