Thanks for staying on top of this strange trend Rich. This begs the question: Are employees at other local TV stations as prone to frequent and prolonged (mysterious) leaves of absence as those at KPIX? While it's expected for individuals to take leave for any number of legitimate reasons, the frequency at KPIX appears notably higher compared to other local stations. And the fact they are almost always shrouded in mystery further adds to the weirdness.
I do recall N. Zouves out for a medical issue when she was on KGO-TV. There's a NewsNation anchor, not out right now, who's shaved her head due to chemotherapy. I remember J. Haener out for awhile with her in the hospital a few years ago (KTVU anchor, but don't remember exactly when it was; maybe someone else will remember). Those three come to my mind at the moment but there must have been others.
@12:51PM Natasha Zouves fell at the KGO studio and suffered a serious concussion. It took months of rehab before she got back to work. She left KGO for a fellowship at a Calif. university.
Other stations are drowning. Revenue is way down. No ratings in the market and ad money is decreasing on local and national TV. Once Political spending ends stations will have to make cuts in december. And many stations (especially nexstar stations) are very poorly run with bad executive management
You were saying Ryan Yamamoto with the open collar shirt who is all alone at noon. I don’t know how long Yamamoto will survive, this is his 3rd year. The only other guy is Paul Heggen

DeleteIt's a shame that the best anchor(Jules) and the best reporter(Yu) in the market works for the same dysfunctional station.
