  1. Nice man. He belonged to our health club up here in the north bay and always cordial. RIP

  3. Jack Hanson was a favorite of mine growing up. Affable and accessible without being pompous. The wry sense of humor was formative for me. Jack was the perfect counterpoint to the Science First presentation of Pete Giddings.

An early TV appearance for Jack occurred in a 1960 episode of the Groucho Marx quiz Show ‘You Bet Your Life’. This appearance was referenced in a 1975 New York Times article about the show:

“Another contestant, Jack Hanson, who was a contestant in 1960 and is now a weathercaster on television station KGO in San Francisco, recalls that he told the program staff in a pre‐show interview that he attended San Francisco State College, and they told him to refer to it just as “San Francisco State.”

Sure enough, on the program Groucho asked him where he had gone to school and Mr. Hanson answered, “San Francisco State.”
Groucho deadpanned: “Was that a college or a reformatory?””

TV Personality. Weathercaster. Artist. Groucho Marx Straight Man. A really decent man. What a life. RIP.
