Back to Normal on KCBS: Sunday Dread

FROM civility and tranquility Saturday PM to Sunday at the Zoo.

I was too optimistic. I thought there was hope but I was way too naive.

Sunday morning was DREADFUL on KCBS; a cacophony of NOISE; a commercial orgy; misplaced sounders; wrong audio; and completely disjointed news presentation by anchor, Pat Thurston.

An UTTER MESS.

REAL CROCK? Thurston IGNORED all Sunday morning sports updates, including the Wimbledon Mens Final, instead opting for TAPED, old sports stories from the week.

Just a total disgrace.

  1. Thurston was a trainwreck this morning. Her KGO holdover Tim Sika thrilled us with his leftist-tinged movie reviews.
She would have Ray on KCBS if he was still here. “Hi Pat, I just let one go.”

    1. How does one do a "leftist-tinged" review of "Barbie", or "Oppenheimer"?

    2. 9:00 - You must not be aware of Tim’s socialist history with Ms Thurston. Get with it.

    3. @9am If there is a way Tim and Pat will find it.

  2. Yep, sports updates on KCBS can be hit or miss on the weekends, but it was outstanding on KRON4 last night. Noelle Bellow was the solo anchor and sports anchor. She not only did a great job as sports anchor, she may be the best sports anchor at KRON4. Perfect name pronunciation, smooth transition from sport to sport, and some genuine enthusiasm.

    1. I saw Noelle's sports segment. It was very good. Hope she does sports again tonight.

    2. There are so sports updates on KCBS just feature stuff designed to kill two minutes without any significant information

    3. @6:25 Noelle is a multifaceted anchor, do everything well, sure hope they give her Ms. Moore's spot, she deserves it

  3. Definitely heard a few glitches on KCBS this AM, along with a few really annoying commercials; but CBS's national offering ---"Face the Nation" --- had some interesting content. I could have always tuned in to KQED instead. It's a compromise.

  4. Where are the editors? Aren't they the ones writing items for the anchors? Are they on strike?

    1. They’re hiring! A whole $2 over minimum wage + SAG dues. To quote Brett Burkhart: “WOW!”

    2. @8:51 How much is minimum wage in SF? $17? Hyumm, $17 + 2 = $19, my friend is working as an Environmental Service position in a local hosp and makes much much more than that

    3. $18.07 as of July 1st.

  5. The "audacy" FM stations sound like shit too. Think 103.7 FM
With a playlist of 8 songs.
Madonna , Michael Jackson, Bryan Adams. Cindy Lauper,
Over & over & over. Day after day after day.
    Time to flip to KOIT

    1. 103.7 is an iHeart 80’s outfit.. not Audacy.

    2. Talk about gross exaggeration. I'm listening to 103.7 FM right now and the past hour, they had the following artists, never repeated once: Eagles, Madonna, Ace of Base, Cyndi Lauper, Stevie Wonder, Yes, Michael Jackson, Mr. Mister, Spandau Ballet, Journey, Prince, Guns N' Roses, The Cars, Phil Collins, etc.

    3. 2:05 PM...Wow, and here I thought 98.1FM was bad.
They are close to that same tiny box of 8 colors of Crayons, but a wee bit better. Not by much...There must be some contractual agreement to play certain preachy songs by PINK at least six times each day. Is it wrong that I still expect to enjoy my terrestrial radio as is?
If loving variety of music is wrong, then I don't want to be right!

    4. POP MUSIC is pretty much the same treacle spread on a different roll. Thankfully, the music each of us likes is the best music, and the other stuff we don’t like is noise. Remember the big hair screaming glam bands of yore? Very formulaic and predictable. Does anyone remember their greatest hits? Music, great music, will stand the test of time, and will still be listened to in 100 years.
If you don’t like the music, change the channel ! Why torture yourself? I seriously doubt Andrea Bocelli ever listens to KISS, which even a blind guy can see is kee-rap.

  6. ***NEWSFLASH***
Everyone is ‘mailing it in’ these days. From radio to newspapers, from TV to sports teams - nobody cares about craft anymore.
America has dumbed down to the 6 second soundbite, and even then that’s a stretch for half the people.
Jon Waters put it succinctly: “if someone’s TV is bigger than their bookshelf, don’t f+%> them”.
We have a lot of numbskulls opining about things about which they know absolutely nothing, and they make a lot of noise in doing so. Maybe it is time to encourage stupid folks to STFU !! 🙏❤️‍🔥🙏

  7. In Depth this morning was horrible. The topic was we're are not doing enough diversity or equity. I turned it off after five minutes. The woke agenda never ends in San Francisco.

    1. I wish I would have turned it off. It was such propaganda. For three years it was covid, covid, covid in between traffic updates. Now that the covid is over, they have woke equity propaganda 24/7.

    2. covid is not over.. "woke" just means that you read a lot and have empathy.

    3. @7:59 Agreed, sad part is it'll never end, see the agendas from the board of stuporvisors?

    4. Look at what the wokes led by London Breed have done to my city. But the libs will still get voted in by all the stupid people who live here while they walk around pooping homeless and empty buildings. SF is now a wasteland so why don't they do an IN-DEPTH about that every week? Because the morons at KCBS and KGO are idiot sheep like everyone else around the Bay.

  8. 10:37..... you must really live in a wasteland bubble.... keep buying all the fear mongering about covid and the woke agenda....my god, just look around and see the results of your mindset has created...SF was once a beautiful city to be proud of....now it is dump

    1. @2:27 I couldn't agree more, all that lockdown caused plenty of mental health issues and made our children to have educational and social problems due to school shutdown for so long
