Michael Finney Still a Fierce Consumer Advocate on Circle7

MIKE FINNEY has been at it for years; while not the most popular news personality in the Bay Area, definitely one of the smartest and most original.

The KGO (ABC7) Consumer Anchor/Editor has been a Circle7 mainstay for the better part of three decades and has a strong following with viewers and industry folk alike.

Finney's "7 on your side" is ABC/SF's most-watched feature and its strongest non-news content. It's also reflective as to why Finney has a multi-level staff of people who answer email from viewers and process stories that ultimately may find their way onto a segment on KGO's news platforms.

Finney is a no-BS plain talker, a true consumer advocate who nails business mischief and protects folks from ripoffs and scam artists. It's good fortune there's a guy like Finney still out there hunting down bad guys and looking and poking around the internet to alert for fraud and the jerks who love to rip off the unassuming.

Here's hoping KGO and Disney make another long-term committment to Mike next contract re-up; he's a valuable force in Bay Area TV News, both as a personality and community news -consumer vet.

  1. Best local segment on any Bay Area station. Also loved People Behaving Badly before that reporter moved away.

    1. Stanley Roberts is back in the Bay Area after complaining Bay Area cost living is hell, he moved to Arizona then back in the Bay Area no where on any station.

    2. Someone needs to do "Politicians Behaving Badly," they'd never run out of material.

    3. The Bay Area is cost of living hell, and Stanley seems to be all over the place actually. Probably fishing, but with stations cutting back to the very bare necessities there probably aren't many who are willing to pay for the segment he produces. They can barely afford to cover breaking news now.

  2. Imagine how busy he'd be if he worked DC or Sacramento?

  3. Finney and Gary Richards of "Mr. Roadshow" fame definitely have their niches. And decades of service. True assets.

  4. Here’s hoping that. Disney makes a deal with Dish TV. No ABC or ESPN on Dish TV at the moment.

  5. I give Finney a Thumbs Up!!!

I know several people and have heard of others that have had problems with bay area companies, they just tell the company fix the problem or I'll call Michael Finney!!! Most of the time the problem is resolved before the call to Finney.

    1. That's nice to know. I've considered calling him on multiple occasions. In the future, I may be less likely to balk at the chance.

  6. Why did KGO 810 end his longtime show on Saturday and Sunday afternoons? Now all you hear on KGO weekends is infomercials.

  8. I always liked him. Back when I worked at KTVU Tom Vacar called him a clown and thought little of him. I wonder if he was jealous or just the usual cranky.

    1. Frank from San Pablo--Unfortunately David Horowitz passed away Feb 19 2019 at the age of 81. Horowitz with his "Get Back" Segment was the Los Angeles equivalent to the great Michael Finney

  11. great to have a job where someone else does all the work and all you have to do is keep getting facelifts and botox and pretend to be credible.

  12. Mike Finney seemed to be a hard worker for the consumer, but his high tenor, highly nasal voice often got on my nerves. Same reason I was so pleased when Stanley Roberts was finally off the air.
Stan and his sing-song patronizing lectures, most aimed at the White Boys driving in his chosen area. I know we are not supposed to have noticed.
