415 Media Exclusive: Somerville's Affair with KTVU Intern

What you should know that you didn't a while back:

Frank Somerville had an "inappropriate" relationship with an intern, much, much younger than him, and KTVU/Fox were aware of the matter .

Fox was concerned enough about the relationship that they paid a six-figure settlement to the young woman to stop any potential legal maneuverings. The affair was hushed up even though several KTVU personnel were aware of its taking place. The affair took place in the 2017-'18 time frame. Somerville, for his part, insisted privately that the relationship was platonic. Senior staff at KTVU thought otehrwise.

The affair was well-known among staffers at KTVU but pretty much stayed in hush-hush mode even if the rank and file felt that it shouldn't have been tolerated by KTVU management.

The relationship and subsuquent settlement (which wasn't made public but was known to KTVU staff) took place well before Somerville's personal travails at KTVU were to become a centerpiece in his eventual dismissal from the Bay Area Fox O and O.

It certainly didn't win him any favors from those in the KTVU newsroom.

  1. WTF, this is years old, what's the point? Do you just want to kick the guy while he's down?

  2. Once the cat is out the bag, your screwed. He did a poor job of covering his tracks and look how it ended for him. We don't get to have our cake and eat it too in life. Frank tired and look what it cost him.... EVERYTHING!!!

  5. Turns out with all these bimbo eruptions Somervile was becoming a malignant wart on KTVU's back, best permanent solution is surgical excision.

  8. I'm confused. I'm sure every newsroom employee at KTVU is a big time liberal who had no problem with Bill Clinton doing this to an intern. She was an adult, it was a consensual relationship, blah, blah, blah. You remember all the BS Dems churned out to minimize the Lewinsky affair. And I'm sure they would never mention Biden's sex assault of Tara Reade on the air. But yet these same people are so quick to condemn Frank?

    1. I had a problem with it, and I voted for him twice. Didn't matter if it was consensual or not. And Hillary deserved better. Always amusing when trumpists crawl out from under their rock and claim to speak for liberals, and get it wrong, big time. Stay confused, my friends.

As for Frank, meh. He'll hit his true bottom soon enough. If he's lucky.

    2. Yep. Welcome to the Bay Area. Or as Woody Allen says in Annie Hall, "I am a bigot, but for the left, fortunately."

    3. I could see Bill doing it. Look who he married!

    4. The trumpists are still angry about Lewinsky as if she was their daughter. Ask them about Trump’s dozens of rape accusations and affairs and suddenly shit the hell up. Oy vey!

  9. "Kick 'em when they're up. Kick 'em when they're down. Everyone loves dirty laundry! Don Henley ... Come on, Frank is gone. Nobody died. Nothing to see here. Move along. Next story please.

  10. The Frank story is an awful one. But here's the bigger problem. Current KTVU management was there when the intern debacle happened. They facilitated the NDA and hush money. Cut to last year when Eikel didn't fire Frank after he WENT ON THE AIR DRUNK. She brought him back until the Gabby Petito drama. So yeah. It's awful that Frank is a mess. But it is also a direct line to why the staff doesn't respect news director Amber Eikel. He needed to go and so does she.

  12. What I find disgusting about this, is that the woman evidently "complained" since there was a settlement made by KTVU. This is the problem nowadays, in that, there is no doubt in my mind that the girl knew what she was doing, because she was just a lowly intern and she got to have sex, for what it was worth, with the big time face of the station! I mean, at the very least, she did it for the thrill of it for that reason alone! But, again, she was an intern, as you mentioned, so the probable thought was that she did it for job security and/or in order to get a promotion up from intern to being permanent. By the way, does this girl still work there?

    2. Yes, talk about your double-standards. Women are brought to a mansion of a rich older man in a fancy car, they give him massages, they massage other men who come to the house, get expensive presents and get their school and business aspirations paid for, they fly to far-away places barely on the map with pervs like Bill Clinton and Donald Trump, they give massages there, they dance in their underwear, they give blowjobs, they parade around naked, then they don a conservative gray suit and pin their hair up and go before am investigative committee and say they had "no idea" what was going on. Riiiiiight.

  14. How do you get to be Frank's age without learning it's unwise to get your meat where you get your bread? Particularly when any such relationship is unlikely to have a story book ending.

    1. He is Frank Sommerville, duh. He is or was very powerful in the newsroom that you dare not go against him. Remember Bill Cosby? Power gets you all kinds of intern action or meat as you call it.
