Michelle Griego, she of the KPIX Morning edition, is LEAVING PIX and headed to her hometown Colorado. She'll remain at PIX until the end of summer until she becomes the new morning anchor at the CBS station in Denver.
Griego has been a morning fixture at PIX but in recent years has anchored a CBS-SF morning edition that has failed to attract any decent audience. A series of revolving co-anchors probably didn't help Griego's cause, in fact may have made for an impossible successfull run. A desire to change scenary and the Denver-area a hometown choice may have accelerated Griego's departure.
A LEADING candidate to replace Griego is longtime KPIX fill-in anchor, for the morning show especially, is Anne Makovec.
On-air, I think that she is solid. Comely, too.
ReplyDeleteI guess she had problems with coworkers, but I found she was serene and easy on the eyes.
DeleteSomewhere out there Frank Mallicoat must be dancing on her 8 by 10 glossy. Correct me if I'm wrong Rich, but wasn't it Griego who threw Frank under the bus, along with a few others?
ReplyDeleteYup.
DeleteShe's got an uphill battle in Denver, where the CBS station is even more of a mess than KPIX, if that can be believed. No identity, no face-of-the-station. KCNC is 3rd or 4th in the demo for all newscasts. The market leader, KUSA, has twice the ratings of its nearest competitor, and has been in that position since the 1970s. Good luck Michelle.
ReplyDeleteMichelle is an expert in finishing last. she'll fit right in
DeleteHaving worked with her in the past, I still have a knife wound in my back
ReplyDeleteAnne is a sweetheart, Michelle is something that rhymes with "bunt." I hope they choose Anne, but they're probably too stupid to. I used to work there and the place is run by retards.
ReplyDeleteI worked (behind the scenes) at PIX a few years back. Michelle was one of those people who was always pleasant to your face but we knew there was something about her we couldn’t trust. Even then, we enjoyed her tight, thin skirts and dresses which made her thong line very apparent. We swear she did it on purpose.
ReplyDeleteHow do you think she got where she did? By wearing sweats?
DeleteBest wishes to Michelle G. I admit to seldom watching the a.m. news (either sleeping or busy doing something else before 0700); but the few times I did see Griego she always spoke/read well and was very pleasant to look at.
ReplyDeleteIt'll be interesting to see what staffing changes KPIX will make to its on screen personnel to make up for Griego leaving.
Is VDLC finally/officially gone?
ReplyDeleteWith regard to her situation at KPIX, or her psychological status?
DeleteVeronica De La Cruz to take mornings with Frank Sommerville!!!
ReplyDeleteThis proves one thing, very bad management at KPIX. How can they let a witch only at the station for a short time being a bully kicking out Frank and Kenny?? I hope to hear the new big anchor kick her out teaching her a lesson to be respectful.
ReplyDeleteMakovec is terrible. She can't still when she reads the prompter. She seems to be trying out for a part in a Hollywood movie.
ReplyDeleteAgree on Makovec. The anchor stage is too big for her. I
Deleteremember her anchoring the noon news when the shooting at
UPS occurred. While giving an update, she said, "CNN is reporting...." Really Ann? This incident was @ a 10 minute
freeway drive from your chair and you're depending on CNN
to provide you with updates? Embarassing.
Hey Rich! First off, in reply to Anonymous 10:12PM, instead of the anchor stage being too big for Makovec, you have it backwards; Makovec is WAY TOO BIG for the anchor stage! Makovec seems to be doing quite well during this pandemic, having seemingly put on way more pounds. I just don't understand the TV biz nowadays. It used to be that even though one might be able to read a teleprompter on TV, that they also had to LOOK GOOD. In addition, they needed to really be able to grab the audience, which basically boils down to charisma. I mean, does anyone out there really believe that Makovec has a drop of charisma? I don't think so! Look at today's anchor teams, and then think back to the glorious team of the past, the last team that actually did well in the time slot. Remember John Kessler and Sydnie Kohara? While Sydnie could be a diva behinds the scenes, the fact is that she and Kessler were a dynamite combination. Who didn't look forward to John Kessler's look of total glee, whenever he presented a segment on the latest demolition of a building, which he called "Blown Up"? There is no comparison to the anchor teams of those days, with those of today.
ReplyDeleteI'm on the No Makovec bandwagon! She's terrible. Phony strange facial expressions and tries way too hard. Pls find someone that can simply read a teleprompter and deliver a news story.
ReplyDeleteMichelle Griego can't get along with anyone, she thinks she's some kind of high school prom queen! Glad she's out of the bay. BRING KENNY CHOI BACK!!
ReplyDeleteThe door should be sand blasted after it touches her on the way out. Good bye, good luck and watch out for the flying bricks! Lots of snakes in Colorado.
