The Great Peter Cleaveland one of the Best SF Bay Area Street Reporters; KGO-TV/KGO Radio Ace

PETER CLEAVELAND was one helluva street vreporter; both KGO RADIO and KGO-TV. I'll never forget Cleaveland's chilling live report from GUYANA on a KGO-TV newscast the Monday night after the massacre from Jonestown back in 1978.

But the early 1970's saw him out on the streets of San Francisco covering crime stories, fires, earthquakes, and other events and incidents. He was and is an indelible part of SF Bay Area media lore. Cleaveland not only reported on the BIG stories but gave incredible birds-eye accounts and his style was both crisp and informational. Never heard him become flustered or caught off guard, it was simply news and information no matter the story.

Cleaveland is still in mediaville enjoying the retired life on the Peninsula today and is a regular media contributor. In my mind, one of the very BEST SF Bay Area street reporters.

  2. A great reporter – an even better human being. I got to know Peter from my work behind the scenes with the Broadcast Legends, for which he serves as president. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
