A Real New Years Day Posting and Why The Hell was KGO Radio Dark on NYE? NPR Wants to Come to SF

IF I DON'T SAY, HAPPY NEW YEAR, I'll feel sort of sacrilegious, so I'll do the best here and just say, hi, happy you all made it through the night and welcome 2021, good blackjack number and if I were playing, I'd zero in there...

*YEAH, KGO Radio went to a "Best of" format on Thursday because you know, there's really no news going on (wink) and everyone really doesn't is in the festive (wink) spirit. Sorry, I can't buy  that. Rothmann would have worked NYE night and would have done a magnificent broadcast to boot. Instead, we get repeat, taped programming and it sounds like crap. There is no old KGO, just a tired, unoriginal hodgepodge of manufactured doo-doo they put out yesterday, today and the weekend. No there there. Sad and deplorable at the same time, a major-market station goes into MIA mode and essentially goes off the air --leaving the Bay Area radio masses to have to listen to KCBS and its 12 thousand repeats and traffic reports and weather.

How pathetic.

NEWS ON NEW YEARS: NPR wants to build its own bay front studios and offices which is news to KQED...or rather a reminder of how NPR thinks of  its SF partner...Yeah, for real, John Rothmann would work today, tomorrow, because there's place he'd rather be...Rothmann was busy the other day at KGO; was so pleased with staff, he took them all out to dinner at French Laundry.

  1. Pat was live all morning and I heard an ABC year-end special around 2pm. There was live news and traffic all day. Only Mark, Chip, and John were best-of. Why don’t you call the PD and ask him why he gives staff the day off? His phone number is on the website. It truly is the end of the world!

  2. The best KGO New Year tradition was Taliafero’s all night jazz fest, often with actual musicians in studio to talk to Ray. KGO should give us a treat and rebroadcast on NYE

  5. I am no longer able to get KRON. What did they do for NYE? Have Grant Loder and whatsherface stand on the roof of a building and look down on empty streets? Have Darya dance on the news desk topless?

  9. Three things this world will never see again! 1 Your doctor puffing on a cigarette while he examines you 2 firemen "riding the step" 3 The old KGO of Pre 2011! The Issue with AM Talk is no new listeners! Take this into consideration, in the 2011 KGO purge a 10 Year old was not tuning into KGO Now 10 years later that 20 year old is still not tuning in to KGO or most other AM formats. Same goes for AM Conservative Talk! The day we wake up to news The Rush Limbaugh has died AM Conservative talk will instantly loose at lest half it's listeners! At the end of the day if your currant audience is dying off and your not building a new one your entertainment medium is doomed!

  11. Of course NPR wants to come to SF. Don't make any mistake, these morons, (Democrats) are proud of what they have done to SF. They want you to be miserable. They WANT people to die. How else can you explain someone looking around and saying to themselves "how's this all going?" And then voting for even bigger idiots. They all get exactly the government and life they deserve.
