That Wacky 'Lennon-Stephen King' Radio Guy Hails from Santa Cruz

What if Stephen King Killed John Lennon?

The "John Lennon-Stephen King" guy is names Lightfoot. He lives in Santa Cruz and regularly calls KSCO and its owner, MZ Zwerling. Zwerling thinks he's a hoot. I used to think the guy was a nutjob but every now and then he made me laugh --why? The guy used to call Larry King on his radio (Mutual) and CNN show.

  1. This guy used to hang out at Sproul Plaza (UC Berkeley) in the 1980s and sing bad renditions of Beatle songs. I once gave him a dollar and he asked "What is that for?" I said, "That's to SHUT UP". (He was speechless for a few minutes!!)

He constantly called all the KGO radio hosts for years. Jim Eason once asked him to "send some evidence" about his theory of Richard Nixon ordering Stephen King to kill John Lennon. This guy did and a few days later Jim questioned him on the evidence he sent, wondering "where the proof is" The guy told him to "read between the lines" & then Eason cut him off and called him a "wacko".

  3. Must be the same wacko calling Fox "News" saying that Hugo Chavez stole the 2020 presidential election. He used to call and say maybe 15 people would die from covid, a Democratic hoax!

  4. One of the rare times I was listening to Rush Limbaugh around 10 years ago, he called in and I don't think Rush was aware of his schtick. Rush seemed to take the comment seriously, but expressed bewilderment at the theory. I was LMAO.

I once saw him driving his van down El Camino Real in Sunnyvale. Had all kinds of kooky writing on it about the John Lennon - Stephen King connection. The guy needs help.

They guy never seems to give up. Heard him this year on John Rothmann's show, I believe, after a long time of not hearing from him at all.

  5. What I always found interesting about that guy was that he was fairly knowledgable and articulate about whatever topic the host was covering at that particular time. Say the topic was whether the US should get involved in fighting a war in Iraq. Lightfoot would call in, take a position counter to the host, the two would go back and forth for a while, and then very subtly state that Stephen King killed John Lennon. He was just too calculating in his approach to just be some nutjob.

  6. That's odd because most of the Bay Area whackjobs hail from Berkeley, Oakland or San Francisco.

  7. Stephen King had a book appearence in Santa Cruz back in the mid 1990's. King was so freaked out about Lightfoot that he had Santa Cruz PD escort him in through the back door. But the media was already poised by that back door and ambushed King with a few Lightfoot crazy questions... because the real human interest that day was with Lightfoot and his stories.
"Mr.King, have you ever met Stephen Lightfoot?
King look mortified from the embarrassment.

  8. His full name is Stephen Lightfoot and he moved from the Santa Rosa area to the Santa Cruz area within the past decade. He's also upgraded his van with a professional marketing wrap displaying his conspiracy theories.

    1. I used to see Lightfoot's van parked at the CVS drug store near my home in Santa Rosa in the 2000s. It sure looked like he was living in the van.
