Hank Schulman |
Can we set the record straight and not promote the BS as others in this market have?
Hank Schulman, the Giants' beat writer for over thirty years for the Chronicle, did not "retire. He was offered a buyout and decided to take it. Good for Schulman and glad he was able to escape the impending demise of newspaper journalism.
But again, the Chronicle offered him a generous deal and he accepted. Retirement? No. Just the facts, madam.
No big loss. Writes glowingly about the Giants no matter what, then pushes to paywalled articles. Seems more interested in being a social justice warrior now so he's free to use 100% of his time to virtue signal. Good riddance.
ReplyDeleteI remember when Schulman had full hair and glasses at the Oakland Tribune, covering the same Giants during the Humm Baby Era. Sad that he has become so Lockstep the last decade or so.
ReplyDeleteSchul was an azz kisser. Same boring team trope. He was lucky to get a buyout. Was probably going to be let go sooner than later. Now can blog or vacation. Maybe The Athletic?
ReplyDeleteI love it how he would never mention the S word and Barry Bonds. Steroids'. He's just another enabler and yes man for Larry Baer. The SF Comical owns a small piece of the Giants.
ReplyDeleteHank was a mouthpiece for the team while Baggarly regularly broke news and did a far better job. Still, Hank did last a long time on the job, to his credit.
ReplyDeleteAnd Baggarly paid for doing the dirty work with his job. He pissed of some of the players and they bitched to the higher ups. Glad he got a decent new gig, not much profile, though, at The Athletic. Hank should retire, but will blog or The Athletic. He doesn't add much, unless he changes.
DeleteTaking a buyout doesn't mean one retired. It means they took a buyout. Henry Schulman may or may not return to writing in the immediate future. It all depends on what the terms of his buyout specify, and what his personal finances dictate. And if you know anything about journalists, no one in that field really retires in the first place. Either way, I wish him well.
ReplyDeleteHenry can go fuck himself!
DeleteHank was a lot like baseball - low energy, tedious and depressing.
ReplyDeleteReally telling to see the comments here. It's so true. Just look at what he wrote. Hank was a Shrill for the Giants. Nary a bad word. He could've gone to work for Barry Bonds as his personal PR man. And wouldn't you know that the other shrill for the Giants, Bruce Jenkins, writes glowing praise about his fellow ass-kisser. His wife works for the team, go figure. It's good to see that others can see through Hank the Shrill's work. The Panda Bear huggers will be upset with this, but too bad. Truth is truth.
ReplyDeleteLarry Baer seems to give a pass to his people. Rich, does the same thing. He isn't as venomous with his people compared to everyone else.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely cannot stand how much Hank kisses Farhan's butt. The worship was so putrid to me I stopped following him on Twitter. Couldn't stand it anymore.
ReplyDeleteHenry is an asshole. You'd think a cancer scare would humble the guy but as soon as he was healthy, he was the same old curmudgeon. Good riddance. Go eat an Oh Henry candy bar, not that you need it fat ass!!!
