An Open Letter to Veronica De La Cruz

repentance Archives | Every Man's BattleEvery Man's Battle

DEAR VERONICA:

I'M SO SORRY.

I truly had no idea what you have gone through and I'm sure many in the Bay Area still don't know.

Here's your story.

Veronica, had I known and been able to decipher all the information, I would not have speculated on your status.

I know that may sound shallow now but it's the truth.

I know you have been through a lot and there's no way for me to undo some things I wrote, but that's in the past now. I feel very bad and I just hope you get back to being healthy and safe. It's especially hard now during the holidays and Covid-19 situation.

Again, Veronica, I'm truly sorry.

  1. Just read the double nightmare on Twitter. Didn't need to say that many words. This wakes up not just RL and his readers, but all PIX colleagues as well, not to mention CBS HQ in NY.

  2. Sad. It was pretty obvious she was pregnant but some people kept denying it.

    1. obvious? and you know this how, exactly...? Why would "some people" have any knowledge of same.

    2. You could see the bump on TV. it was obvious.

  3. Good accountability here. It's not as though you troll for her on FB.

Hopefully, Rich, you will take this time to look in the mirror and realize spouting off speculation and hyperbole in hopes of clicks isn't worth it. If you have actual news, then share it. But after the way you mocked VLDC, I can't imagine too many people are willing to share anything with you or believe anything you have to say now. It's times like this where it's easy to see why so many media members have nothing but disdain and contempt for you. Do better.

  5. I see no story. So what IS the story? I have no idea and cannot glean it from your post. From the other comments, something about pregnancy.

    1. She sadly had a miscarriage with twin babies, that posted about 6 days ago.

  6. From her instagram account:

Instead, through grief and tears, I am writing this:

I was blessed enough to be pregnant with twins. I was absolutely over the moon about it.
Like any excited mother, I signed up for every pregnancy-related newsletter, started buying baby clothes and thought about baby names.
But sometime during the pregnancy I developed a subchorionic hematoma, which caused a bleed.
    I ended up on bedrest.
As my pregnancy became more complicated, I learned that I had lost one of my twins.
My heart sank with the news and I was numb with pain. I barely had a chance to register what happened.
In the following ultrasounds, I was so happy to see my other baby moving around, healthy, though my heart was still heavy.
Doctors were optimistic this one would survive.
    Unfortunately, my condition grew worse.
I ended up losing this baby as well.
Lately, I have been in a daze. In a deep, dark place, so painful that it's been hard to comprehend.
After losing my father a few years ago, my mother 15 months before that and my only brother and sibling, I have been in a tremendous amount of pain.
The only thing I have ever wished for was family and I have always longed to give my son Hartley brothers and sisters so he wouldn't be alone in the world.
Right now, that dream is on hold while I grieve my little ones and all the people I have lost.
One day at a time, one foot in front of the other.

    1. Rich...can't you see why publishing this sexist, hideous drivel at 4:26 completely nullifies your original "I'm sorry" statement? Can't you edit?

    2. That was a concurring "Yes," in response to the 4:26 post.

    3. Are you serious?? it's none of your fucking business who the father is? She lost 2 children! Show some compassion!

    4. Of course he can't, Christine. He's the Maury Povich, Jerry Springer of blogs. He thrives on this drivel.

  8. What 2:13pm said. And it would be naive to believe that KPIX management did not know what was happening.

  10. Its that disease known as the "Open My Mouth Before I Engage My Brain" disease. I think all of us has suffered from that at least once in our lives. I know I have. At least you were man enough to admit it an offer an apology. Now, if Veronica bothers to accept it...well, that's another thing.

    1. We have all likely said something ignorant in the heat of the moment. That wasn't the case here. Rich wrote several posts speculating on VLDC's absence which have now been proven false. An apology is appropriate, but hopefully Rich learns that it does no good to spread innuendo and speculation.

  11. I have unloaded my fair share of garbage on this human dumpster fire. Do i regret anything ive said about her?? Hell No! But what i will say, I called it! Saying she has Daddy issues. Psych 101... Seems obvious that she was trying to fill a void in her life. Popping out more rug rats does not bring back a family lost, just like having another kid does not save a marriage. Oh and BTW the time frame for her being gone and getting knocked up dont match.

    1. Yeah, all women who want to have children have daddy issues.

      > that she was trying to fill a void in her life.

Seems obvious you're an idiot who's impressed with his own cleverness. Someone has a miscarriage and to you that means they have "Daddy issues"? Someone wants children and to you that means they have "Daddy issues"? You're a sick fuck. Go slit your wrists in the tub and do us all a favor.

    3. 12:05 its so easy to take ones opinion and blow it out of context and make a new opinion based on your "new" version of what i said, but if you read her instacrack account and then what i said it might make more sense? Ignorance is not a virtue.

    4. Black Death, I agree with you 100%. And I ADORE VLDC..

  12. It’s another dramatic self induced predicament she has chosen in life . She has worked the system with “medical issues “ for years. She spends more time filing medical claims than showing up to work .
Sorry ... but the Bay Area has had enough VDLC drama . Can’t imagine how her co workers feel .

    1. VDLC lost two unborn babies and you insinuate this is a "self induced" predicament she has chosen? I think not, and if you do, look in the mirror - you may not like what you see.

      Delete
    2. Yeah, I'm sure she induced the deaths of the fetuses...

You're an asshole. Your mother should have induced your death.

    3. WOW! such anger for one persons opinion. Remember opinions are like assholes everyone has one and they all smell like shit. Just like yours....

  13. Last time, she had a blog supporting single mother giving birth to her son with no father. Today, she is trying to get attention again supporting the life of miscarriage. What is next??

She is trying to get all the attention she wants hoping to get her job back. She FAIL as a reporter having a long list of BS. I won't be surprise one of her not showing up for work excuse is having this new relationship and pregnancy. Big credits to Liz Cook able to manage work and her kids at the same time. VDLC, good luck using this incident to promote yourself in San Francisco. Please remember, you still FAIL as a reporter and no body buys your personal issues.

KPIX should not renew her contract and let her go not aware of her pregnancy which the station has the rights to know. If they continue to have her in today's economy, hope the station will not go broke if what is next, having triplets with higher insurance benefit not showing up for work.

  14. Its terrible that you spend a lot of time putting down veronica! She is a wonderful person who does tons of good stuff to make this world a better place! I know her and have immense respect for her. Shame on you- she never did anything to deserve this awful treatment- and I will always respect her dignity. Veronica de la Cruz- you go girl !

    1. VDLC should learn the consequence of her first lesson and outcome asking herself does she rate herself an A reporter and A++ mother, LOL if she rates herself A+++ on both. There is no free lunch forever using her excuses not showing up for work.

      The list
      Oakland House Fire
      Breaking News
      No weekend shows filling in
No at home broadcasting during Covid
      SFO incident
      Mother
      Dog Bite (son)
      Fish Bite
      Concussion
      Pregnancy

Good luck KPIX and Liz cook should get a pay raise and big promotion filling in for her and delivering good news during Covid

    2. Hopefully in the future she can continue doing all this good stuff without making us suffer watching her reading the news on TV.

  15. At the end of the day she just needs to go away! i will gladly donate $40 to send her on the first Greyhound out of town.

  16. I agree with an earlier commenter here in that the time frame does not match up. She has been gone for MANY MONTHS. OK, it is sad that she lost her two unborn babies. But this is yet another example of what is wrong in today's society, whereas, people are hired to do a job, and then do not do it. Instead they choose other lifestyle choices that affect the job they were hired to do, in this case, she got pregnant which in and of itself, would have caused her to miss days weeks and probably months of work. Yet, she is being paid. Not only that, but those who have to fill in for her, are probably getting overtime as they are doing their own jobs as well as hers. So this is also costing the company more money. I will say it, people like her need to choose what it is they are going to do, be a mother or work in the workforce. It is quite obvious that in her case, she cannot do both. She has cost KPIX a fortune and they have not gotten squat from her.
