I'VE GROWN TO APPRECIATE DION LIM...
I was sort of cold when she first debuted on KGO (ABC7) thinking and observing her as a lightweight and not that big a deal, a softie if you will but I've changed. So has Countess Lim.
She's more substance over style. Her screen presence is more ornate and tailored --it's very eye-catching and compelling. And here's another biggie: Lim has altered her wardrobe with a more glamorous look. Very succinct, business-like and professional. She's always been able to read the teleprompter but now it's a bigger, smarter look. She has a NY, east-coast nuance with a Bay Area flavor. How refreshing.
I also appreciate Lim's reaching out to the Asian community where she has a huge following and rightly so. My Asian friends here who read 415 Media tell me how proud they are to have Dion Lim in such a positive, well-positioned role over at KGO's 900 Front studios.
Agree.
Man, Rich, I agree with you about Dion Lim. I didn't like her at first because I couldn't understand her english. But she has definitely gotten a whole lot better. Now, if only we could get her to actually grow back out her eyebrows, instead of painting them on, most of the time, crooked, as they were on Friday, then we could say she was perfect! And have you seen her legs? I mean, WOW!
ReplyDeleteI suppose I should give her another chance, but I cannot shake the first impression I had when her deer-in-the-headlights look
ReplyDeletewas on full display after the Gilroy Garlic Festival shootings.
Dion is great and correct me if I'm wrong but she won an emmy for the Gilroy coverage!
DeleteWas she the only nominee?
DeleteEach category receives 20+ nominations and only the best ones make the final ballot
DeleteIf her work that day netted her an Emmy, that award has lost all credibility!
DeleteYou should start your own awards then!
DeleteI will start my own awards show and Congratulations to Dion! She is the first recipient of the "Deer in the Headlights" award for her work on the Gilroy Garlic Festival! This award rivals her Emmy in importance.
DeleteRich for once we agree. I am Asian, and didn’t care much for Dion Lim initially. But she has since emerged as our only local Asian reporter/anchor with a meaningful voice in the community and does a nice job. Dion has risen to the top.
ReplyDeleteWhat about Me Hung Low? Oh that’s right false reporting by KTVU
ReplyDeleteSum Ting Wong.....is Dion sending in the positive comments herself, or does she have a big family? She is average at best.
DeleteAnonymous racists, what a surprise…
DeleteI watched her via the KGO feed and she has a touch of the classic anchor/reporter.
ReplyDeleteI've started to notice the other local stations like to copy Dion's reporting stories and usually are a day late. She's gonna put them out of business
ReplyDeleteSo.....Dion is the female equivalent of Walter Cronkite?
Delete"I've started to notice the other local stations like to copy Dion's reporting stories and usually are a day late. She's gonna put them out of business" I agree 100%
DeleteWhat a joke! Dion is a news READER. If this were true, it should be the producers and writers that get the credit.
DeleteThey are talking about her reporting, not her anchoring. Most reporters find their own stories
DeleteI like the night-and-day Circle7 comparisons, using Friday the 13th for Donny and the Forced Maries, then using today for the increasingly respected Dion Lim (Sze without hidden agendas? At least from a work ethic standpoint?). Dion v Jules has made Saturday news more interesting, with the other two further back.
ReplyDeleteThank you for chiming in, Dion!
Deleteshe's a hottie!! MMMMm
ReplyDeleteFrom day one, Dion came across as a top notch professional. Eloquent and sharp.
ReplyDeleteI suspect your opinions about Stephanie Sierra may need to come around, as well. She and Dion look like the likely candidates to get grabbed by a national network. Either one, in the field, frequenty has the lead story of the day.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you 99.9%, Rich. I was really put off in the beginning of her early days. She had this annoying habit of sucking her breath in when she enunciated.
ReplyDeleteThat has diminished to be mostly nonexistent now.
Happy, happy, joy, joy.
I'd love to bang the bejesus outta her!!
ReplyDeleteI still don't like the robotic cadence of her delivery, not to mention her voice. So I'm not a convert.
ReplyDeleteHD is not Ming Sze's friend. Dion is the younger better model to replace her. Ming will be the 3PM anchor which no one watches before Trixie sticks the knife in her back.
