IT WAS NEVER SUPOSED TO HAPPEN but it has quietly seeped into the Bay Area Fox TV station domain: the GOP /Republican political bend that afflicts not only KTVU but all other FOX-owned and operated stations (O and O's) around the country.
Consider the amount of KTVU reports from DC and the proliferation of GOP and POTUS Trump stories that are now almost daily runs and mass packages that frequent KTVU every night. Even when there's relatively no news to report. And it cuts across all platforms from early morning to late at night. And now that there's an election coming, OK, justified, but when you get multiple GOP talking points on a DC-based national report, there's growing evidence that the FOX TV station have become mass infused with Trump and McConnell Kool-Aid --I thought it wouldn't be so obvious but it is.
To learn all the stupid things Trump did on a particular day, you have to go to other stations on the dial or the internet. (Trump's own Twitter feed is a great play to start.) KTVU almost never mentions his tweet-storms, his fights with Fauci, his episodes of narcissism, dementia and mania. They are The Official Station of the 2020 GOP. And Somerville, Haener and the rest of their "liberal," "I-care-so-much" reporters and anchors just cash their paychecks and keep going about their business. Nothing to see here...
ReplyDeleteIn the last few weeks it has become particularly obvious. And embarrassing. I have been watching KTVU my entire life, and I now feel like I have to watch KGO in addition just to get some sort of balance.
ReplyDeleteA "... Republican political bend ...?" How so? They are just reporting the news made by the President which is important to us all. I believe they present a fair view of the goings on in Washington, D.C. If anything, I think they give liberal voices far too much time to espouse their fruitcake ideas in the guise of "social justice expert."

ReplyDeleteTrump is a 'lock' to win the state by over 3 million votes and thus take ALL the electoral college votes.
There are ZERO Bay Area congressional races where any Republican has even a tiny chance of winning
Thus what KTVU does or says will have no impact this November.
BTW, the same holds true for the KGO Radio programs, with the tiny exception of a tiny few people who stream them live from other states. Pat Thruston and John Rothmann are entertaining, but will have no impact come November.
Bay Area votes are already locked in concrete.

The stations are going after that smaller audience because if they get them all it’s a big slice.
Sinclair broadcasting is no better than Chinese Propaganda.
Its just a proper balance to the KGO, KRON and KPIX daily spin that goes on every day. Not gonna mention the heavy handed liberal spin that flows out of the local PBS outlet.

ReplyDeleteKTVU is past its prime. In my opinion Sacramento stations are way better. KGO radio is pathetic. They say they want to hear the other side, but will then cut you off. Talk about bias. One sided radio. It is no nice to get our daily lessons from Chick Franklin
ReplyDeleteSince KTVU is a Fox affiliate, it has no choice but to use Fox feeds.The problem I have is in the station (or any other local station) covering national news. Back in my producing days (left the business 10+ years ago), I would always question why the hell I had to block out a block for national news. "Hell, we're a local shop. Let the viewers tune in to CBS news in between our 5 & 6 shows." I quickly found out...and was told by the ND and EP...that "we don't have enough crews to provide all-local news--so ya gotta use national news to fill out the shows." I learned that, in order to fill 3-4 minutes in the B or C block, I could just run a network PKG...or a couple of national news VOSOT's!
