Jim Eason on KGO one of my Favorites

Jim Eason - KGO News/Talk 81 (April 1972) | Bay Area Radio Museum
Jim Eason

ONE OF THE BEST: Jim Eason.

He isn't my favorite, there's a whole lot in the equation. But if I'm asked a top 5, Jim Eason would be in that list.

I didn't agree with much of his politics, but it didn't matter. He was entertaining and his show on KGO was one of the best talk shows ever. Jim Eason was a must-listen and always made for an informative three hours of talk-show radio.

Eason is very much alive today and a 415 Media reader living up in the high Sierra mountains and having an occasional chat with ours truly.

I make a point of telling Eason his interviews were some of the best I've ever heard. Be it politics, pop culture, space, Russia, Eason was a marvel to listen to. Again, I'm more centrist left and Eason is a libertarian conservative but who cares about politics--Eason's show trumped politics.

    1. Me neither. But that's the thing, when someone's a talented host, you don't need to buy into what they're selling in order to enjoy the pitch. Gene Burns was the same way. I didn't have to subscribe to his libertarianism, but he was so entertaining it didn't matter.

  4. Jim Eason was the ONLY talk radio show host my mom, a news media junkie, EVER mentioned in any conversation about local media.
