Cesspool Radio (Again) on KCBS Saturday Morning: Schaub Is Dreadful; Cavalcade of Disaster

ANOTHER TOILET TIME AT KCBS

I thought it was horrible at first but I kept listening because it got worse and worse.

KCBS on Saturday has become cesspool radio with another dreadful, jaw-dropping AWFUL time period. The suits don't care about this --maybe because of the holidays, they have no assistance. Hell, they need it badly.

Jeffrey Schaub; was he kidnapped by aliens and told to sabotage the place? Schaub is pathetic, a veritable DISASTER who continuously FLUBS his copy, interrupts people with stupid, corny asides and can't work a board if his life depended on it. It's not only BAD radio, it's a monumental DISASTER! Hey, Seelig? 86 Shaub now! He has all the grace of an Emeryville whorehouse.

KCBS REPEATS everything. It's like a broken record. There's no news content and the BARRAGE of spots makes it sound all the more appalling --the only good thing about the spots? You can't hear Schaub. And that's fortunate for all of us.

Call the authorities.

  1. KCBS also played the worst spot I think I've heard in years, maybe ever. When I was in radio sales about 30 years ago we were told by management to discourage clients from voicing their own spots. Management feared their accents and mispronunciations would turn off listeners, and the ad wouldn't work. This commercial is Exhibit A for that rule. I don't know who the client is, though I gather it's a restaurant with some type of European food. The name, as best as I can figure, is Hibernia or I-burn-ia. I have no idea, it's that bad. The guy voicing the ad apparently thinks he's some old country chef, but you can't tell what he's saying because his accent is so thick. How this spot got on the air is anybody's guess. KCBS must be so desperate for sales that they'll put anything on, even an ad that nobody can understand.

  2. Sorry to comment as an "OK Boomer", but if you are talking about ads for Iberia Restaurant, they have graced Bay Area airwaves for a very long time. Lots to criticize about KCBS, but their reporting is top rate and all we have in case of emergency

  3. Why would anyone be surprised that a radio station which has provided the most solid news coverage in Northern California forever and which "repeats" the stories in the news of the day in cycles, regularly and dependably, updating as the stories move, be shocked that KCBS does that? KCBS ratings continue to be and always have been stellar, right? The picture above is not of a "cesspool", but rather of a dry well.

  4. Another terrible spot is the one by the guy who repairs roofs and installs solar systems. Can remember his name or business even though I've heard it 100 times. The problem with the spot is that he is literally shouting at listeners, as if that was the experience a customer would have to endure if you did business with him.
