Do you have predictions for two KPIX5 anchors? Liz Cook: PIX stay, or a stray to LA (or somewhere else away from the Bay)? Or perhaps an exit from the biz, to focus on the kiddies or to satisfy some other whim? And VDLC: In the coming years, do you think that she will be a fixture at her current station?
Liz Cook has become a sort of LA-style tonsil which isn't that bad necessarily --unless you want LA and her dad is a Disney exec, maybe a precursor--so yes, I think she eyes LA...VDLC in SF has become a total failure. There's nothing there except severe superficiality, fixture? Hell no.
Over the air TV reception will change by July 1 when the San Francisco stations all finish their repacking cycle and frequency changes. Most will be transparent to viewers except the need to rescan if OTA. Do you hear any discussion about these technical changes?
Hi Rich: Cumulus declared bankruptcy in Dec 2017 & yet this week all the KNBR Sports Talkers, with the exception of Greg Papa who stayed behind as unfortunately he is the 49ers play-by play announcer, are broadcasting live from the Big Island of Hawaii along with selected KNBR contestant winners. Who the hell is the asinine sponsor who actually believed it was a great idea to fully comp Cumulus Sports Diarrhea Spewers Murph & Mac AKA Beavis & Butthead, Utterly Atrocious Rod Brooks, Dick Head John Lund & the other buffoons to spend a full week broadcasting at the Big Island. Rich-I absolutely Love your Blog!! Cary SF
Cary, in this world, it's all about promotion and advertising and all the freebies one can get. KNBR/sans Cumulus, thinks that these junkets are worthwhile and that they benefit the station. I agree with you. Mostly, they are just filler and they don't contribute anything except pissed off listeners who have to hear daily hyperbole from schmucks in Hawaii --it adds ZERO to the equation but lots of aired mayhem with no benefits. So they mumble on and on. Just a hodgepodge of crappola.
I realize you take what you can get and the internet works fine over there as do phone lines, but with the Niners having a big game on Sunday and The Big Game on Saturday - kinda a bad week to be out of town.
When did the FCC change their rule about how when a station's ownership changes, a call-letter change is required? KRON has changed hands multiple times but is still KRON.
I never heard of that rule. Many other stations have changed owners and calls didn't change, for example like KTVU or KOVR. Many radio stations still have same calls too after many ownership changes.
How come all the former Bay Area anchors like Jessica Castro, Alexis Smith and KTVU Gomez all headed to Seattle at the same time, does Seattle TV Station pay more with nicer people than SF?
Rich, you reported recently that KGO ABC7 was adding a new South Bay reporter and a current reporter was out. What is the status of that?
Diversity is important, but why is every new anchor/reporter on ABC7 ethnic? Do caucasians have no chance any longer or do they not like the salary? (Or management?)
Any truth to the rumor that KNBR is grooming Adam Copeland to be Marty Laurie's replacement on the Giants pre and post game shows. He recently did fill in work on Mark Willard's show and was very good behind the mike.
Why do you do this?
ReplyDeleteFor the love of fans like you who throw rocks at my window.
DeleteDid VDLC get a facelift? her new hairdo makes the sides of her face look lifted.
ReplyDeleteI haven't noticed that element but she has noticeably put on a few more lbs. That IS apparent.
DeleteMaybe she's pregnant?
DeleteLooks like she haven't learn her first lesson being a single mom.

ReplyDeleteNo and I personally haven't heard a thing so thanks for the tip. Can't wait.
DeleteHere's a link about the re-pack for those not aware...
DeleteHow are KGOs Midday Live and KNTVs California Live doing?
ReplyDeleteRelatively strong and very unusually strong which is a good thing because it's November Sweeps.

DeleteIf remember right, the airline (Hawaiian?) and the resort comp the trip in exchange for on-air mentions.

DeleteHow are the ABC7 early morning news ratings now versus when Natasha, Jessica, and Alexis were on-air a few months ago?
ReplyDeleteAbout the same although we're in Sweeps so wait a week or two.
DeleteKumasi seems to be the weekday morning anchor with Reggie. KGO please bring back Chris Nguyen to Saturday & Sunday morning.
DeleteDid Liz Kretuz take over for Kumasi Aaron at KGO for the weekend morning anchor?
ReplyDeleteI've not seen Aaron and yes, I have seen Kretuz, hoping Kumasi is on a break or vacation. I'll inquire.

ReplyDeleteWhat would Bill, Lon, and Hank say about Papa's utterly contrived, ridiculous touchdown call Rich?
ReplyDeleteAlexis Smith's husband took a job in Seattle. With another baby on the way, she has not lined up another job. Maybe she'll go back to KIRO7

Will the Stanford band run onto the field, giving Cal the win on Saturday?
