IT IS STILL A MONUMENTAL SHIT HOUSE. A colossal calamity of indisputable crappola spread over four hours of time in the morning when it hits its nadir and causes extreme audio constipation and that's the easy part.
KNBR's extreme putrid onslaught of the senses: aka: The Morning Show could be simply taken as a tragic outpouring of mediocre, benign, hosts trying their best to be pop-culture worthy and carry on subjects all the while building personality and interviews around their pro-sports clients like the Giants and the 49ers. That would be the perfect scenario but these two, (now four) clowns take to an extra notch and have seemed to garner management support because the show is now an uber-annoying Bay Area constant.
It has ZERO substance; it possesses zero laughs; it has ZERO cohesion: its attempt to be a here-and-now pop culture juggernaut is laughable at best, unconscionable at worst; I don't know anybody who listens regularly to this god-awful disaster dump and if you do and don't chuckle, I want to know why.
Paulic Mac, should be "Paulie Mac the Mumbler" --the guy with the fake New Jersey accent has now become second wind to Murph's lame interviews by frequent, non-communicable mumbles in the background. To say it's embarrassing would be an understatement much like saying Mac himself is an embarrassment.
Then there's the thoroughly irrelevant shiksa/yenta, Bonnie Jill-Laughlin, who was added I guess to add some vigor to the horny-guy demo only there's one problem, you can't SEE HER! She just utters sweet and sour nothings in the back and cackles each time Murph makes a lame joke. Maybe she was added to the roster to allow Murph support at home when his wife was away and took a road trip.
Adam, "Copes" Coepland is another waste brought in by the Cumulus suits to avert having a whole Irish mafia team in the morning. I suppose Copes is their Urkel in training as I still wonder why the hell he's there; wait a minute...
KNBR has a morning show the way most people have hemorrhoids --it gets more painful by the day.
Again, one of the world's greatest mysteries is why Paulie Mac has a job. Murph is sometimes okay on his own--does good interviews--but Paulie Mac is a total waste of space and Bonnie Jill is . . . well I'm not sure what the point of her is. Shit can them all and start again.

ReplyDeleteStill not as bad as TKB Rich. I can usually stomach the morning show. I cannot and will not stomach Rod Brooks. He makes my skin craaaaaaaaaaaaawl.
ReplyDeleteBrian is great. He knows his Bay Area sports history really well, so he is able to provide extreme context. Heck, his Day in Giants History is so well done. I’m convinced you just don’t listen to the show or maybe you listened to it once.Or you’re simply not a sports fan, as you badmouth Duane and Mike relentlessly, two amazing local resources for a generation.

I do tune in occasionally when I run/workout in the morning and almost immediately find myself changing the channel when the no talent D-bag Paulie starts in with one of his songs or makes a lame Mork and Mindy reference during a rare legit discussion of something relevant. I am convinced that both he and "tits McGee" have something on Lee Hammer. Lose them both. PLEASE!!! Give the ship to Murph and Copes and be done with the nonsense already. I know they'll still be honks/homers for the Giants (which KNBR has a piece of) but at least I don't have to hear about the F'ing Grateful Dead during a pennant race. One the Giants aren't in by the way, which makes me wonder why there is NEVER a mention of the A's during any of "tits McGee's" sports updates. Hell, KNBR will mention a women's college volleyball score before they report on the A's. "Sport Leader" my ass! How can the Bay Area not have a decent morning sports show? Just sucks!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, is it clear to anyone else that "Paulie Mac" doesn't watch half of what he talks about. I don't know if "Oh, dude, totally!" qualifies as sports analysis. I think he spends more time "inhaling" then "observing".

DeleteWhat a sick show. Can't stomach Mac or Murph. This is not a sports show. It's a two-bit lounge act in a Tenderloin flop house. Two 50 year old hosts who start every sentence with "dude" is beyond pathetic. Absolutely unlistenable.

ReplyDeleteI enjoy reading your blog. You consistently hammer the Murph and Mac show. I personally like the show. I could care less about Bonnie Jill, I think she was added after Pconn made that comment on Sirius. What are the other options locally for sports talk in the bay area, 95.7 ? That morning show sucks. I'm almost ready to pony up $50 to sit down with your crotchety old ass and to hear in person why your so upset with the local stations. It sure can't be that none of them will hire you can it? I find you very entertaining, not sure how informative you are , your not Breaking News. I wish KGO would give you an hour. I'm sure your ratings would be better than most of the programming they currently offer.
