Reggie Aqui, the alleged morning newsman, part doofus, part showman, was OFF THE AIR on KGO's Friday Morning News--a legit reason too: Aqui routinely takes an Uber to work from his SF home only early in the morning while en route to the station, his Uber was involved in an accident. Aqui wasn't seriously hurt, I'm told, just some cuts and bruises, maybe the effects of whiplash. The driver however was a bit more banged up and had to visit a hospital but his injuries were not life-threatening.
SO HERE'S THE SKINNY around KGO --word from one of my spies is that a huge part of the Circle7 Newsroom has a bet going saying Aqui, who worked alongside Natasha Zouves, might try to milk a Zatashaesque injury and make the most of it. It's just a small bet now but it's getting bigger.
Zouves, you'll recall, missed nearly a year in 2018 when she fell on the studio floor where a can of hair mousse was centered. She suffered a concussion and left the KGO building and missed significant time. Convenient enough time to escape the KGO hellhole and miss all the unwanted drama.
Will Aqui, who has all the popularity at 900 Front, of a Union City rodent, do the same? If you don't see him (Aqui) on Monday let the drama begin.
Let's hope he does, anything to keep him off the air. Please, please, please...

ReplyDeleteThis is a totally different story. He needs to sue Uber and the driver for damages and this has nothing related to KGO 7. This did not happen during working hours (he was going to work), it did not happen inside KGO 7 parking lot or inside for sure and the station will allow him 6 months or get out. If he wants to play Natasha dirty little trick, he will eventually be boycotted by all staffs and like Natasha forcing her to leave and thanks goodness the news is better with Kasumi Aaron but not the weekend anchor. KGO 7 morning news needs a big make-over, I boycott the morning news sick of watching Mr Pride and Ms Princess and I finally tuned in noticing what happened to the former staffs. Lovely Jessica left, Alexis needs to relocate and Natasha got "boo" and decided to leave. He won't be fired due to his status which S.F. cannot discriminate people like Reggie, but his co-workers can boo him even more forcing him to leave if he choose to play dirty.
And responding to the above comment, both are unqualified for the job and Natasha should have went back to school in 2013 then hired for this job, connections and $$$ helps.
This could have been even better if they'd crashed in to Chip Franklin.

ReplyDeleteI dislike Aqui's smug, disrespectful infantile tone on the morning news. Hope Aaron is able to tone down his Mickey Mouse antics. He tries, desperately, to lure the others into his "hey I'm happy" inanity during the brief happy talk.
ReplyDeleteThankfully, Aaron is a professional breath of fresh air. Yes, last Friday, the morning newscast was different. Oh yeah four adults on the desk!
Can't wait for KGO to fire Aqui.
