415 Media Exclusive: More Bodies Departing KPIX: Caen Leaving To Write Book; Ayers Leaving For Parts Unknown

KPIX IS HAVING A BAD DAY

First, Paul Deanno is gone --headed to the Chicago NBC O and O and Now This:

I'VE LEARNED both Melissa Caen and Christin Ayers are LEAVING --Ayers to go out of state to a station and do GSA reporting; Caen, PIX's political reporter, to write a book. She'll be available to do contribution reporting every now and then

A trifecta departure is not a good omen for KPIX under any circumstances and is indicative of an operation that sees some of its best people leave the ship.

More coming soon.

  1. Shoot, KPIX might as well just run CBSN and dump their news department. It'll be way better than the phony crap that's on there now.

  2. I find the news/anchor personalities the main consideration;
    the degree local stories are covered (I'm in San Jose when in CA);
    and to some extent, if there's any or much political bias from any guest experts or special legal/political reporters assigned (I tend to like Fox News, fyi, which is how I "roll").
    I've got almost zero interest in sports, btw.
    When in San Jose, I seem to like watching KTVU a bit more than KPIX. I seldom watch KGO, KRON, or KNTV. (In Nevada, I tend to watch KTVN, a CBS affiliated station, but KTVU's 10 pm news is aired on KRXI which is Reno's Fox affiliate which I'll watch).

  3. Another opinion, counter to this website's general opinion is I don't mind (may even like) watching Michelle Griego. Admittedly, I seldom watch a.m. or the noon news. I don't know or need to know her personality off-camera or with her co-workers. It's just not relevant to me in watching her presentation. I like the way she looks; she speaks well; and appears personable.

    1. I like Michelle Griego well enough too. I do love backstage gossip but that's not what we get here -- just nasty words like "backstabbing", with no info about what she actually does to earn that slur. If you can't tell a real story, you should drop the unsupported innuendo. If Kenny Choi hates her, tell us why (with all the lurid details)!

  4. So I am somewhat confused about Christin Ayers leaving. I mean, you reported a while back, that she was being courted by CNN, I think, but she turned them down. So now, she is leaving? I mean, I don't know but I would think that CNN paid more than KPIX, and she turned that down, so whatever she is doing, it must be GOOD! Out of curiosity, keep us informed like you always do, Rich! You are the best!

  5. I grew up watching KPIX. Then I worked there and it was a soul sucking experience to say the least. KPIX is the Titanic and it continues to slowly sink to the bottom.

  6. CNN?? they're about to go out of business. Check they're rating's!! Good reason not to go there.
