Papa and a KNBR Connection: What Were You Expecting?

Image result for Greg Papa KNBRI'LL talk about it one day but it just reinforces how creativity is out the door...as for Knibber gobbling up Greg Papa, really it had no choice, what with Papa's new PBP radio gig for the 49ers.

This is not a shocking development.

For "The Game" (95.7 FM) it's really no big loss anyway.

  1. Interesting that Radnich was off the air today.

    1. I noticed that as well.
Larry Krueger made no mention of a vacation or illness.
      Very curious.
Hmmmm. Something is brewing and the rest of the story is yet to come out.

  2. I don't want to listen to him during the 49ers games but I have no choice. I can only hear R.... I tune him out on the other station.

  3. You do kind of feel bad for Bonta in all of this, but like Bonta said in his tweet, he will be fine. Working with Greg Papa was huge for Bonta’s career, and I’m sure Bonta’s career will continue to flourish from here.

This is one of the things that sucks about the sports talk radio business. Guys leave abruptly and don’t get a chance to say goodbye to their fans or co-workers. The same thing happened with Townsend when he left 95.7 to work for the A’s.

    1. Same thing happens every time I get fired. It's "Pack your things and security will escort you out in 10 minutes."

  4. From KNBR's side, this is huge for them as their weekday lineup gets a much needed boost. KNBR has become stale, and their air time being filled with so many of the same stupid commercials, didn't do them any favors either.

  5. This is a huge loss for 95.7. Greg Papa helped provide stability to 95.7 and his knowledge of baseball, basketball, and football was impeccable. He really will be missed on that station.

I am a fan of Damon Bruce, but they ruined his show adding Ratto.

This would be a good time to rearrange the lineup again. I would keep the morning show as is, despite Lorenzo Neal and Dibley having their on air bouts and disagreements sometimes. I would put Bonta with Guru, Ratto with Steinmetz, and Damon Bruce with Matt Kolsky.
But yeah, this is a big blow to 95.7. Just when Bonta and Greg Papa were gaining traction as a tandem.

    1. Nope. Bonta joins Steiny and Guru from 10AM to 2PM; Damon, Kolsky, and Ratto go from 2PM to 7PM.

    2. I think Damon, Kolsky, and Ratto will be on from 2-6 PM

  6. Rich,
I would think that Papa has a contract with the Game, if so I guess there are stipulations that he can bail at any time.? Also I'm wondering since the season is over for the Warriors any news that Ted Robinson will be taking over Fitz play by play?

  7. Papa is awful; wish he'd leave with Raiders to Vegas; oh, I forgot, Davis fired him.

  8. "The Rise Guys" just got let go from ESPN Sacramento in what looks like a budget move. I'm just a simple robot, but I wouldn't mind seeing them replace Fitz and Brooks.

    1. Agree.
The next move at KNBR should be replace those two loathsome characters from 1:00-3:00.
Easily the worst duo in Bay Area radio.

  9. Its a huge loss for 95.7 the Game but to make it up and stick it to KNBR...try n grab the Jim Rome and CBS Sports Radio away...that be a good move!

  10. Does this mean Gary has to give up the "Bentley?"
