NBC NEWS BAY AREA with Janelle Wang; No April Fool.What an abomination!
I'VE Watched my share of KNTV newscasts and Wang is terrible. So terrible as to not only wreck her newscast but mess up co-anchor Raj Mathai too.
That's a difficult task to accomplish but Wang is so banal, so sloppy, so uninspiring she makes others look bad.
I enjoyed Wang when she multi-tasked at KGO a few years ago (hosting a low-rated community midday show and doing various newscast) but she has regressed and it's not very pretty. Which is all the more reason Jessica Aguirre should be on board with an extension because Wang is a bomb.
*Raj is a fan of Jessica and likes her a lot which is odd because you would think Mr. Mathai would go to bat for Jess; he hasn't. Curious. Maybe he's got NY on his mind still.
*PETER FINCH: Disaster on the overnight at KCBS: Finch's moronic habit of saying "degrees!" is beyond annoying; downright stupid too. "In Oakland. it's 54 degrees, In Marin City, 48 degrees, in Walnut Creek, 56 degrees,...Finch could just broadcast the temperature, but his DEGREES! spiel is pathetic. STOP IT! ...and the overnight traffic guy, "AJ" (Alden Jacobs) has a voice more annoying than Carrie Houdesak. Brilliant, amateur radio at CBS -SF.
*Melissa Culross: talk about pretension 101: the KCBS reporter ends her reporting spots a full second and a half before saying..."Melissa Culronn---KCBS." What an abomination!
*Ryan Scott, the alleged chef who was screwing around with another woman when his wife was pregnant, had an orgy interview on Saturday night with lonesome Ronnnnnn Owens actually sounded funny, unintentionally. Scott kissing Owens' ass on air is great comedy humor; one guy who can't talk the other you wish was stuck in a giant wedge of gouda cheese. What an abomination.
*KNBR Giants-related revenue on a downward spiral; the pre-game show which used to be an hour-long is now 40 minutes and the post-game commercials onslaught is down a whopping half-hour! That's a lot of pine, meat!
*KQED: Turmoil galore; wait until the end of April.
*I didn't mention the ND with the initials, "SA" is supposedly pissing off the rank and file inside the NBCBA newsroom. The honeymoon is over.
Stephanie Adrouny pissed us off when she was at KGO too. She's one of these women who thinks to be an effective woman in management you have to yell, be mean and act like an asshat "because that's the way men behave." If she'd pull her head out of her BMW to look at her colleagues (Goldberger, DeRego) she'd see they don't. It's an excuse women make to be jerks.

DeleteSomething seriously went wrong for Wang. She used to be a breath of fresh air, and now she defines lazy and sloppy. Can't figure her out. Went down hill so fast!

DeleteIt seems that a lot of on-air talent degrades somewhat after a major life event; Wang, Daetz, Casteneda (he got married several years back, hasn't been the same since)...looking for Sommerville to spontaneously go postal some night once his divorce is final...
DeleteGotta throw the tired Kristen Sze in this mix. Not so much lazy, but certainly sloppy - wears the same granny dresses from Ross on a daily basis, and she has packed on some serious pounds! She was never much of a looker in the first place tho...

DeleteNBC 11 got the worst reporters ever. Raj is like Reggie Aquai, Janelle is another Gasia and the rest are junk reporters other tv station give up on them, NBC 11 is the new place to stay.

ReplyDeleteYou mean to say I can't hear endless promo's for Mary's Pizza Shack before and after Giants games....Thank God!!! Those pre and post game shows are horrendous as is. "Ah Gee Kuip who's your player of the game?" Well Kruk I would have to take Posey because he hit the ball one time the whole game". "Oh great choice, Great choice!!"

- The whole Giants organization - despite a win in LA tonight - sounds like they are lost without the internal intimidation that is the suspended Lockstep.

DeleteActually...it does not matter who reports the news on NBC11. They all sound the same. What I mean by this is that the copywriters for NBC11 have problems grasping the English language (very strange and sad since they are native English speakers). Their futile attempts to inject humor and gravitas in the news reporting is painful to watch. Have you ever noticed that even the male news anchors have a tendency to state the obvious or try to inject humor into their reporting. Next time...just close you eyes and pay attention to what is said, how it is said and when it is said. News anchors on NBC11 might be competent but they are not allowed to write their own material. NBC11 wants consistency across all their news reporting. So only a few people are allowed to write what is said on TV. Hence, if Janelle Wang or Jessica Aguirre seem to slur their words or appear too nice or smile too much...also look at Raj Mathai......who is just as guilty of these actions. But if you are tired of watching bad news reporting then simply tune into NBC11 on Saturday mornings to watch Kira Klapper. She is amazing. You can tell that she is able to write her own material. It's so refreshing.
