TUESDAY PM DRILL*Morning Radio Excess
Between the brutally awful "KSFO Morning Show"; the wretched repetitive convulsion known as KCBS; the continuing disgrace known as "Armstrong and Getty?" Bay Area radio for the most part is el sucko.
I switched over to hidden gem (again) KCSM and a bolt of Miles Davis saved the day. Do me a favor: anytime you get down, listen to KCSM which is saturated with golden oldies jazz and blues and is about as cool as it gets.
BACK TO EL CRAPPO
Brian Sussman on KSFO gets more awful by the day. Forget extreme right-wing politics, it's just not that entertaining. Sussman has degenerated into a lousy morning zoo with a couple of amateur cohorts who are as obnoxious as he is. The traffic woman speaks like a drunken sailor. The alleged producer is nothing but a pathetic hack with predictable quasi racism which is further cruel considering she's Asian. Go figure. I haven't. Sussman and his minions have apparently figured that his extremist views aren't enough so stealing items from Drudge Report and reading the latest right-wing goo makes for good radio. Yeah, if you love fake sound effects and Sussman's obnoxious voice inflections you'll love KSFO in the morning. Brian has to feed the family I guess.
*Over on KCBS, the Megan Goldsby show continues with weatherman, Stan Bunger and lousy interviewers conducted by Susan Leigh Taylor who once again informed Bay Area listeners that she saw some mist on her windshield on the drive into San Francisco. Then the chick reporter with the cat-shrieking voice combined with the 27 replays of Jeffrey Schaub's Marin report. Gosh, what a disintegrating radio station.
*Armstrong and Getty: Proving once again that mediocrity wins the day only these two buffoons with their fake cackles and laughs are cause for severe root canal. Worse by the day.
*At KTVU, it's STILL all about "the Texts." And that's all the talk is about going on months now. What is that? It has to do with a 30-year-old intern who got sexually-heated texts from someone big, that's all I can say for now.
*Yes, "The Game" (95.7 FM) is much better then KNBR and would be even better if they killed off their nighttime dreck which makes WKRP in Cincinnati seem almost civil.

My radio listening is now next-to-zero. When I take a chance and tune into one of the local stations, I'm hearing music I don't want to hear; I'm hearing advertisements one-after-another (and obnoxious); or I'm hearing a talk show whining about some political issues; the other stations are in a non-English language. I finally tuned to KLIV (AM 1590) only to find it GONE. Research shows it went quiet a few days ago with the owner considering donating the station to the City of San Jose, at least the land/grounds it's on.
ReplyDeleteNote, if I'm trying to listen at the right time (12pm-3pm), I might like the Mike Savage show, but I've got to be in the right mood and cannot stand the commercials. I know commercial ads are a necessity, but I can now name the ads by product name from which I no longer want to hear an advertisement (My Pillow; Babel language software; Cars4Kids; Dinovite dog food; Ric Edelman finance; all come to mind).

Now Kgo has its own disgraceful issues, to wit, A & G, BEER-man, Chip F, the "chef", countless paid programming, and NO PD or anyone at the helm. Pat and John are the only coherent people in what's left of the station. And that ain't sayin' much either. But it is the repugnance of Suss and Ksfo which takes dreck, schlock and crass to new heights.

Sussman is so stupid now & pathetic. He asks the funky talentless side kicks to "help me out here" while trying to read verbatim from some news report or Drudge. There is no show prep his interviews are horrible & all the phony laughing over his incompetence is just too much. He strolls in in the a.m. reads news horribly and often now sounds like he is having trouble reading/enunciating? I would say dementia.

Rich - Sussman brags about his ratings and how other people at the station wonder how he does it. Also, why would a person in Florida want to listen to this dreck in SF? Why not bring in Lou Pate {who fills in for Savage} and have someone else do traffic and weather?

Who ever hired A&G should try listening to those two dumb bells and try and figure out what they are saying, more important, who the F is listening to those two? If you are, your dial must be stuck and you should probably get a new radio.

Where is AM radio headed?
I listen to "Coast to Coast"on KFI (640) in Los Angeles from San Francisco at 10pm since KGO delays the broadcast until 1am. Much static but listenable, but better than the present 10pm KGO program.
ReplyDeleteYou may want to try KSRO 1350 AM out of Santa Rosa. Coast to Coast also starts at 10:00pm. Maybe the static won't be so bad?
DeleteWhere do you live. Not a fan of Coast to Coast, but happen to know it is also on Sacramento station or stations, 1530 and perhaps 650. If you live in the East Bay you should be able to get either station fairly clear, especially 1530, I'm in Martinez and actual 1530 comes in better than 560, also use to live in Benicia and Sacramento stations were very clear.
