Saturday 415 Media Bagels

Image result for bagels and lox SATURDAY BAGELS AND LOX

*The Cumulus SF Christmas Party: when all the station's personnel gather around the buffet and ask: "How the hell did I end up here?"

*The kiss-ass contingent already planning mini-speeches: "We are fortunate to be here and celebrating this great company!" Que Ronn Owens, John Rothmann, and Doug Harvill, Brian Sussman, etc.

*The usual grumblings that happen this time of year at KQED is typical and as angry and morose as ever but even more so now that the retirement of Jo Anne Wallace is place. Oh, it's not her retirement, it's the package they gave her. I'm the only outlet that will mention its over-largess --you'll never hear a whimper in the Chronicle or that nudge, Ben Bland Torres.

*Bears Repeating: I'm not fond of Christine Craft's wonderful ability to be as overbearing as I am at times but she's one damn good radio talk-show host.

*Yes, someone big at KTVU is the talk of the newsroom not named Frank Somerville for getting a pass on something truly doo-dooish. You'll know exclusively soon and you'll get it here; I'm not naming names now because I want to marinate it. By the way, Frank gets accused of a lot of shit but not this one.

*Jim Gabbert: A multi-millionaire who wants to die rich. At one point, Gabbert was thought to be a front man for a new, KGO-like frequency but Gabbert is more enthused with boats, planes, dogs and the like.

*Speaking of Ben Fong, yo Bennie, another puff-piece aside, why didn't you ask Harvill what the end game of KGO is? Or were you too fixated on Doug's Cumulus doughnuts and crumpets? Never mind.

*Radio is still mighty and king even with the schmucks that run it. More like ruin it.

*KRON: because of current corporate ownership malfeasance another excuse for overall sloppiness and utter incompetence. Yes, every now and then they're better then average and possess a few decent anchors and reporters but not enough to stop the stench.

FINALLY...
