KTVU New Set Debuts Tuesday |
First impression: Fox wants a Star Wars theme (look) --It has futuristic elements and an airy design.
Main news desk has a control panel that stands out. It has potential.
Definitely an improvement over the old, busy multiple desks. This is nice, actually, but maybe too slick for Bay Area audience. On the other hand, give credit to FOX for finally delivering something decent.
The corny music can be excused for now. After all, remember, it's Fox.
Gee, we're all so happy that you semi approve of the new KTVU set. That's a game changer for me.
ReplyDeleteAnother cold, icy, cookie cutter space ark news set that looks like every other cookie cutter space ark news set on every other cookie cutter local TV station, network and cable channel. The same plasma screens, cobalt blue, polished steel and glue-on hardwood laminate from the Armstrong Flooring Outlet.
ReplyDeleteJust give me an un-biased,un-edited straight news report. I don't care what they look like or how nice their set is.
ReplyDeleteToo slick for Bay Area audiences? This is the home Silicon Valley and tech innovation. I think viewers can handle the changes. If you look at markets around the country this is the direction that set designs are moving towards.
ReplyDeleteHate to break it to ya but the techies and Silicon Valley millionaires and vulture capitalists ain't watching local teevee newz. Not for a second.

I personally think the GGB as constant backdrop behind the anchor is corny / over the top. Yes, this is an SF Bay Area newscast, we get it. Since we live here, we're kinda over it; the bridge tower is not novel and we do not need to see it all the time. Methinks someone outside the area who sees the landmarks as emblematic made that call: sort of a tourist's perspective. If I am visiting New York City, sure; I'll visit the Statue of Liberty -- but if I lived there, I seriously doubt I want it in the background of every news cast every day. Or hey, Maybe that's what Fox's NY O&O actually does, I wouldn't know.
ReplyDeleteI really don't see how that looks like Star Wars any more than it looks like Star *Trek,* the lobby at a skyscraper or a Nordstroms. It's just sleek and modern.
ReplyDeleteSo long as the national Fox feed is coming through that big screen behind the red dressed lady for national/international matters of propaganda, it matters not the set visuals.
ReplyDeletewill make it hard to see HH's legs
ReplyDeleteEvery FOX affiliate has the same news studio, similar to a fast food joint. Same walls, same desk, etc, etc, etc. In time for the Toilet Bay game at the Blue Jeans Ballfield.
ReplyDeleteFox did an great job on new KTVU Fox 2 set. The wait is on for Fox to do set makeovers at its Dallas-Fort Worth station, and its New York City station.
