Lee Hammer Says Yes; Rothmann Hosts Live Scotus Pick Show 7-10 PM on KGO Radio Tonight; Monday Early Coffee

WHEN THE PRESIDENT makes his Scotus pick tonight after 6 you can listen and react on KGO Radio when master political/presidential historian, John Rothmann, will take to the airwaves live from 7-10 PM for both his and caller reaction.

Kudos to interim PD, Lee Hammer, for putting Rothmann in that slot for intelligent, smart radio. It's both the right and studious thing to do and Rothmann's popularity on social media and other platforms is second to none in the political scene both here and around the country.

*Seems KGO is slowing fazing in its latest quest to be "live and local" --a sort of nebulous label given the multitude of formats in the last eight years but whatever, better late then never.

*Bad enough that Ronn Owens tried to hit on Lisa Bloom but the turning point came when he insisted she spell her first name "Lisssssssssa"

Rim Shot.

*Why is it so difficult to program intelligent, entertaining people, adult people, on radio who broadcast enlightening things and say something that excites the senses; perhaps conduct honesty and something different; it doesn't necessarily have to be heavy on politics --a mixture of pop culture and things in the news. You can't manufacture a format which is why I say let a host dictate his/her topics and take it from there. NO, the lifestyle BS is a failure because when there's legitimate news and events and incidents taking place pretty silly to be discussing food and animal items. Common sense should dictate chaos --isn't that just, well, common sense? Dear lord.

*More reasons Dr. Don Rose was so good and creative: His honesty to listeners. His ability to form a bond. It takes a great deal of patience to form that bond and Rose's platform; however crazy and zany and corny was a mainstay radio force. It didn't matter that his style was straight out of an Animal House because the listeners got it and expected such hijinks --it was part of the charm show and shtick which works well when everyone is in on the deal. Rose's synergy with the one-liners and sound drops made for great radio because the audience believed. No, he wasn't loved by everyone but damn near everyone I knew thought he and the show was funny. And why KFRC made him their captain.

*Something Ronn Owens didn't ask Gavin Newsom and was there for the taking but I'll say it and it goes like this..."Gavin, you're going to be the governor of California soon but after two years you're probably going to run for the White House in 2020 against Donald Trump, right Gavin?"

To which Newsom would come back and say something to the effect of "Well, my mind is solely on the campaign to be governor"--something like that but you have to at least ask it; I did.
