YOU MAY have noticed that Peggy Bunker suddenly disappeared from the NBC Bay Area Weekend TV News --many 415 Media readers have asked me Bunker's status and I got the answer from an NBC station spy.Seems Bunker only wanted to work two days. Saturday and Sunday anchoring, period.
Not realistic this day and age --most weekend anchors work five days; two at the desk reading the news and three days in the field.
KNTV liked Peggy Bunker a lot but not so much to allow her to merely read the teleprompter and nothing else. So, the station basically told her to work or not work.
Bunker chose the latter.
Don't feel sorry for her; she's supposedly got a very rich boyfriend. It's good to have options in life.

ReplyDeleteFrom L-2, another personality who's gone from KRON is Tiffany McElroy, which Mr. Lieberman has briefly mentioned in prior blogs. I can't even remember if I'd ever seen her on TV as she was earlier advertised as starting at 0400 for an hour, then working the backroom breaking-news desks after that. Linkedin.com seems to indicate she's got her own consulting company. TV news is such a hard business to get & stay employed, along with the potential of needing to relocate anywhere in the country. Anybody who's able to stay in one market (as in the SF Bay Area) for a number of years is doing what others may never be able to do. Of course, others may get better offers elsewhere or folks may not want to live & work here. So many are literally "here today, but gone tomorrow", as the saying goes.
