The Swan Song That Was Planned for Today Temporarily Suspended But I Need Your Help; Keep 415 Media Afloat --UPDATE: 20 More Gets Us To The Promised Land

Image result for swan song TODAY (FRIDAY) WAS TO BE MY SWAN SONG --I had every reason and indication to shut down; hardly any subscriptions or donations have come into the 415 Media site and it's a daily struggle to make ends meet let alone write this blog and keep up with the Bay Area Media Scene--giving you scoops and commenting (as you love) on the people and TV/Radio stations that make up our market.

I've taken a different path and I'll explain to you all my plans.

I will try, with your HELP, to carry on. But I very much need your assistance...now. Maintaining this site and keeping it up to date, not to mention providing you my fresh takes and feelings requires me to be up and around which of course requires time and energy, money too.

Many folks look forward to reading 415 Media and have asked me to exhaust all possibilities. Wait and perhaps seek not only subscribers, but Advertisers too --sponsors also which, yes, I encourage. Anything to keep this blog independent, fresh, and not beholden to corporate interests and able to give honest and free-wheeling opinion and analysis. That's a great business model and I'm all for it.

But again, I NEED YOUR HELP.

I simply can't keep doing this without some very necessary funding that allows me the wherewithal to keep up the blog and make it as entertaining and informative as possible, so I will give it another day or so.

I know there are many thousands of you; over 50,000 of you who stop by here daily and want to read about Bay Area Media; want especially to read my take-no-prisoner musings and of course read my scoops. That's all terrific and I enjoy doing all of that but again, it requires time and money.

So here's the deal: If I can somehow recruit two or three hundred contributions/subscriptions ...at $25 a year and $30 for two years ...today and tomorrow, 415 MEDIA will be back at a moments notice providing you all the great content (mostly) that you enjoy and look forward to on a daily basis.

If we can't, then we'll go the way the bad guys want us to go and shut it down. We're not that desperate. Fair enough?

All donations are confidential. Any amount is greatly appreciated --any dollar amount over $100 gets you dinner and an evening with me, Yours Truly.

To SUBSCRIBE/CONTRIBUTE: Simply go to the Pay Pal Icon on the Right Side of the Blog and Click on and follow the Prompts. It's real simple and you don't have to have a Pay Pal account to make a donation.

ADVERTISERS: Send me an e-mail to inquire about rates on the blog. You'll be amazed about how reasonable it is to advertise on the Bay Area's most widely-read and #1 media site.

SPONSORS/INVESTORS: All interested e-mail and will provide you any necessary info on the numbers and demos that make up 415 Media.

UPDATE: 2: 22 PM PT-- !! We're only 20 subscriptions (or donations of like amount) away from MEETING OUR NEEDED GOAL!!, our breakpoint really, where Yours Truly, can pay bills and keep 415 MEDIA Solvent---PLEASE, CONTRIBUTE!, SUBSCRIBE! Right Now and We'll Be on Our Way!!

  1. Rich, personally I would make a donation if only you would stop embracing, promoting, and defending (far) right-wing conspiracy theorist Michael Savage - did you see his latest nonsense?

“You know there was a secret police chief in the Soviet Union named Beria, one of the most fearful people on Earth. And he had a statement, it was ‘show me the man and I’ll show you the crime,'” said Savage. “Mueller is now the Beria of America.”

    https://www.mediaite.com/online/michael-savage-compares-robert-mueller-to-stalinist-spy-chief-show-me-the-man-ill-show-you-the-crime/

I'll be impressed if you actually allow this to be posted.

    1. Another whining Democrat who thinks censorship is the answer. Need a hug?

I doubt you'll post this response from someone who has donated in the past.

Told a friend about this blog who might be interested in buying ad space.

    3. Yes, Rich has written about Michael Savage here and there. And as a result of those articles Dr. Savage has occasionally mentioned Rich's website on the air to his audience of millions. I'm pretty sure a good number of those listeners then came to read Rich (based on comments here in the comments section the days it happened). Those new visitors now come back to read Rich adding to that number respectable number of 50,000 daily.

      Bottom line, good marketing.

      Good luck, Rich!

  2. I'm trying to write a comment, but something is wrong with the sight, I keep asking me to mark the squares on the picture, but it goes on and on and when I tried to check my balance in my bank account the phrase please prove you are not a robot showed up and I couldn't get in to my bank account, kind of scary.

I donated $25.00 to this sight last fall and would be happy to do so again, if it becomes a subscriber sight I will most likely subscribe since it is reasonable. I don't have time to donate now I'm on my way to work, and also timing is bad had some heavy car expenses.

  3. I've said it before, but it bares repeating. I cannot, in good conscience, donate to someone that believes in censorship. If someone posted hate speech or nonsense, I can understand not allowing that to be posted. But several times, I've made a comment that politely disagreed, pointed out an inaccuracy, or mentioned the repetitive blog posts. You've censored the overwhelming majority of those comments. I've seen you allow hundreds of comments that slam or berate local media members, but you censor the ones that slam or berate you. Until you recognize you're fair game too or grow a thicker skin, I will not donate.

Also, when was the last time you broke a story? You've mentioned a couple of behind-the-scenes rumors, but have barely mentioned the mass movement at KNBR. You didn't make a peep about 95.7 firing their PD this week. Rather than offering some analysis, you continue to bash the same people, ad nauseum, for some bizarre reason, of only which you're aware.

I would advise you to not take critique of your critique so seriously, offer analysis without making it personal, and stop blocking people on twitter because they disagree with you. You could grow this blog and your twitter followers if you weren't so hypocritical and easily offended. Good luck.

    1. Lieberman censors any comment even slightly critical about him. Creates a very dull website.

Constant appeal for money is tiresome. Most blogs are free. If he can't afford to do it than he should just stop.

    2. Agree completely. I think there is an important place for a blog of this type in the Bay Area, and I would be the first to generously support it if the censorship of comments wasn't so egregious. I've had many deleted that were thoughtful, insightful, and within the guidelines for polite discourse, but were deleted because Rich didn't agree. Seems like he's shot himself in the foot in this regard, because there are likely a lot of us who would readily support the site but are disgusted with the inappropriate censorship.

    3. No one has been a bigger defender of Rich Lieberman than this poster, but the commenter at 11:16am makes a valid argument, and honestly, I can't add to it.
      It speaks for itself.

    4. I try my best to post the comments; not all are published and that's based on me, a sort of "editor" who looks at the comments and tries to post the best and not repetitive...that said, I'll try to be less selective and more transparent but you can't please all--THANKS for taking the time to write though.

  4. The Beria comment made by Savage mentioned above was stupid, asinine, and uninformed. Yes, Beria was an evil henchmen of the Kremlin during Stalin's reign of terror. But to compare him to Mueller? laughable. And over most of his listener's heads.

  5. Too many racists posts from the operator of this site and too many racist comments are allowed to be posted. I'd donate it this stopped. I am not going to pay for racism.

    1. I don't see much outright racism except for a few posts here and there, and it's probably the same two or three bozo's who troll the site night and day. I do have a problem with all of the misogyny here. Every time a woman is mentioned there is some comment on her 'hotness' or 'fuckability' or whether she's a snotty diva or not.

    2. Yeah, I'm a "racist" --there's nothing to really to say here --you have your mind made up.

  6. Apparently, you only want donations from your fellow left-wing, elite, know everything liberal friends. People with different views read you and would like to contribute, but not at the expense of your snide remarks.
Try being middle of the road, and you might have more support.

    1. "Left-wing" yeah, that's why I listen, regularly, to Savage, was an ardent FAN, interviewed him right before he died, Lee Rodgers...and Hugh Hewitt and Rush...yeah, I'm some leftie all right.

    2. Here's another example of what I said early about being hyper sensitive to a differing opinion. Rich, you don't have to take things so personally and respond so sarcastically. More civil discourse in the public square is what we need, not less.

  7. Rich,

I'll do my best if all goes well to donate sometime soon.

I hope some local companies, mom & pop stores, local coffee houses, local venues, nightclubs, small & BIG businesses, tire stores, restaurants, clubs or any other local bay area business will buy some ad space on your site.

    Good Luck

    P.S.

Maybe whomever wins the Super Lottery, Power Ball or Mega Millions this weekend can help out.

  11. As others here have stated, if this blog became more of a media blog and less of a personal attack blog, I'd be happy to donate.

but you ignore news stories because of your beef with a certain person. D Bruce had a stroke, you didn't mention it until someone asked a question about his abscence. You've got some beef with Roberta G when years ago she was the best.

You've called out other media sites for being pathetic about asking for money and yet this is a weekly thing for you.

I get this is your livelyhood and I do come here often, but where are the ratings numbers? Where's the insight on Don Kollins getting fired?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. A. I immediately offered my prayers to Damon on Twitter...I thought a post here at the time would be inappropriate because I didn't have all the details so I took the road of caution; if you object, so be it...as for Roberta, many years ago, yes, I was supportive but her mannerisms started irritating me and I was and am annoyed. She treats her audience like they were grade-school students, my opinion, which people here want to read...Don Kollins getting fired isn't a big deal here on a station that is now below the SF USD station and has become irrelevant ---look at the ratings.

Hope you still read me but if not, that's life.

  14. If you quit saying how this is your site and you have every right to edit what gets posted and what doesn't, I'll contribute. I'm not contributing to something where the dictator wants absolute control over the community but expects the community to financially support him, anyway. I'm not saying you would have to post hateful or threatening messages, but wield more of an editorial hand and less of a censorship hand.

  16. What!!, you have been censored, welcome to the club...so what! I bet I have been censored more times than you.

I like the site and especially what all the posters have to say, even Stan!

Character is what you do when nobody is watching, I donated $25 today. There are those who step forward and participate, and those who hide in the shadows. There are those who always contribute, and those who never do....who are you?!!

  17. In order to turn this into a community, why not develop a set of criteria of what's an acceptable post and what might not be? (I'd vote for no foul language, although it could get too boring around here!)
I've got to admit to not agreeing with a lot of the content. At the same time, the lack of in-depth coverage of Bay Area media by local dailies is appalling.
An independent voice, whether we always agree with everything printed here or not, is an enormous resource.
It would be too easy -- and pretty foolish -- to overlook your work. Of course I'll donate.

  18. I agree with 2:44 and 3:44. I donated last fall, and will do so again in the few months. However, I dislike how personal Rich seem to take comments. He does not like Ronn or Brian I do to a certain extend, and whenever I post an even tepid defense of either, it does usually not get posted, sometime after rewriting it and adding praise of Rich and toning down my critic of said hosts it gets posted, but it is annoying for several reasons: I try to be fair, I do not use foul language etc. I'm always short on time, since I'm in my early seventies and still work full time and commute about 3 hours a day. Treat this sight as a business Rich, and don't take everything so personally, you will be more successful.

  19. Interesting comments. Rich I thought you were holding an air shift/show at the Santa Cruz stations that Zwirling (SP?)owns?I get frustrated the blog focuses on a select few stations and very little in the south bay. The other aspect is the editing. I look at a blog like this in the same way as a newspaper. As Blog Zar editing is more then within your scope, but only you know if you're fair and balanced (oops some other outfit has that line) and from what I read you take a pretty good amount of crap directed at you. Good Luck
