KPIX Unhinged

Image result for gary radnich twitter LAST NIGHT, you saw a man become unhinged.

At 855 Battery --KPIX is now unhinged too. How so? To the point of a news operation that is out of control and has no direction. Anchors seemingly that don't know their place, not that they had a place to begin with.

New reporters. Lousy reporters who look and sound like they don't even know the city they're in--most likely because they came from small market stations and SF is bigtime to them only they're rank amateurs.

KPIX has the backing of its owner, CBS, but in name only. CBS News would be embarrassed to be associated with the daily news offerings put forth by PIX' --a daily mish mash with incompetent anchors (mostly) and incoherent reporters --one guy, a techie, is supposed to be "hip" because he wears a baseball cap. How revolutionary. At the end of the 11 PM news, Ken Bastida makes some stupid joke that's supposed to be funny. It isn't funny, more dumb and corny. The forced laughter from the others in the studio is actually unintentionally funny. I don't get why he does it night after night --maybe he's in denial.

The station that brought us Dave McElhatton is now a local embarrassment. By contrast, even KRON has more direction that KPIX. That's a major ouch.

  1. Roberta's definition of "Unhinged" is when she drives home so fast after a 3-hour binge at E Pollo Loco in Rohnert Park, she knocked the front door off the hinges to get to the bathroom.

  2. KRON is the poor man's KPIX and the only thing giving them slightly more cred is because they're a CBS affiliate

  3. Journalism died many moons ago. Local news would do well to combine resources and partner with the two local newspapers (Merc/Chron) in an effort to beef up their news offering.

  4. Rich said yesterday he doesn't do politics. Then in the first line of this blog posting he takes a shot. Where is the journalistic integrity? It's as bad as CNN around here...

  6. Yesterday at 5 on KPIX, Wilson Walker finished a report on Tahoe the woman anchor said something that Walker didn't like and he responded with a kind of sarcastic remark and the tension for those 2.5 seconds while they were on screen together was beyond chilling. Both stared DIRECTLY into the camera with grimaces until the camera changed and they were clear. OUCH !!!

  7. It may be by name only, but until CBS HQ & PIX work to resolve the uncertainty of ND Dan Rosenheim's future, nothing will change and come September, no matter the anchor desk and reporting struggles, KPIX 5 will continue to benefit from the network's stratospheric ratings and quality shows. Very unfortunate.

  8. Pix is an example of that old newsroom joke, "if it's news to us it's news". Their afternoon teases ahead of the 5pm news are always about stories that emerged hours before, sometimes the day before, which most of the audience has either read on the internet or heard on the radio. It's unforgivable and shows that exec. producers are just mailing it in.

  9. Jessica Flores should attend some type of class where she can learn to pronounce in a correct manner, the names of locations, roadways, etc. Where did they find her?

  10. Time to get "new" reporters for the morning news. They got good outside reporters like Maria Medina just the main anchors needs some serious attention only if the stations cares about better ratings.
