They just did their job; read the news; respected the viewer; had respect for themselves; didn't have to worry about dreaded social media; in other words, they connected.

  1. IIRC, she was Elaine Chiamos at that time...and Mark was Denny Terrio... :)

  2. Claud Mann! A name I've not thought of in a long time. He was a favorite of mine.

  3. Mann is dead. Elaine went a little kooky after her fall out with 2. Dyed her hair some outrageous platinum blond, tried acting, tried to run a business that did ok..she then closed that up.
Quitting a job that paid 200 grand in 1079 dollars would make anybody lose it when they find there is nothing else the rest of your life to come around like that.
Mark learned from Raddy. Stay with the job until they push your cushy tush out.
    Like free money.

    1. Those were the days, back in 1079! When Breaking News was a buffalo stampede.

    1. There is a difference between "living in the past" and using the past as a benchmark. For example, in talent, quality, professionalism and class.

Today, that is sadly lacking across the board.

  6. KTVU news was much better in the old days especially at 10PM getting high ratings. Right now, I just lose trust on the station with reporters switching back and forth on different news cast. How can we trust station with different fill in reporters whenever they want!

Huh? There WAS not other newscasts then except at 10 pm and the rest of your sentence literally makes no sense.

  7. I always liked the way newscasts were done in the old days. Clear and concise and got to the point.

  8. Ibanez is still cool in my book. Gave the Niner organization the business during the postgame show yesterday, too.

  9. KTVU was terrific in its time. Great if some of the people are still at it, OK if they're not... as long as there is strength on the bench. Which, of course, there is not. It's not 2 or any other TV or radio station or newspaper. Those coming up have the training but not the experience. They haven't had a chance to make their mistakes out of town. The bus from Fresno or Bakersfield leaves every 30 minutes.

  10. Why did the audience trust them ???? Likely because the audience didn't know any better.

  11. KTVU was no better than than it is now. Glorifying the mediocrity of the past serves no useful purpose.

    1. Well see they had that black fella and he always had a serious look on his face and never smiled. So of course the news was so so so much better back then. The key is to have a black fella that never smiles and acts serious. Nevermind the behind the scenes shenanigans.

  12. May I also add how much Maggie Scura and Doug Moore from ch 11 are missed as well?? They were real good together.

    1. Agreed 100%. But see Rich is an East Bay boy, he never cared to watch KNTV 11 or even Margo Myers out of Salinas 8 (so beautiful). Rich, such a professional.

  14. Too bad management didn't respect Elaine a little more.

  15. What is with these Pacific Storms.. all over the country people know it as rain... much ado about mostly nothing... every so often, yes.. we get stormy weather.. but no so often to warrant Storm Centers going way overboard

  16. I hate the FOX take over of KTVU, the Media Outlet was so much better when it was an Independent TV Station. Now we "have" to see direct reports, & Reporters from FOX NEWS on KTVU...Smdh.
