Happy Halloween; Monday 415 Media Minutiae; KRON Bottom Line; KTVU Savidge Delivers; Raj and Janelle Humble Please; Hey, Joel Murray

Image result for halloween *KRON bigwigs (whatever that constitutes) are figuring their days of fat checks are history. That's the good news. The bad news is that anybody that makes more-than-average dough (and at KRON compared to other places it's really not huge) can kiss it all goodbye.

So people like Radnich, Moore, Liviakis, Heenan and the like are preparing. Or should be because the day of reckoning is nearing.

*I'm, uh, glad none of the TV stations in town had Halloween-themed shows this morning...I won't even bother talking about KTVU which has pretty much lost all semblance of news-gathering. Maybe they should just stop and concentrate on talking like pirates. Or, in Gasia Mikaelian's case, standard operating procedure. Gasia, the Fox2 cackler AM supreme.

*I will credit Channel 2 reporter, Alex Savidge, for doing a pretty good job covering the Oakland/Lake Merritt fire. Savidge was right on the scene shortly after 5 AM when the fire just started and the pictures said everything.

*Raj Mathai and Janelle Wang: way, way, too much taking yourself too seriously. Might want to hit the levity button.

*The city on Halloween night in 1975: Then chief Charlie Gain was all over the Chronicle and TV at the Hookers Ball at the Cow Palace. Supposedly for "research purposes." Hell, it was memorable. 1975, wow, time flies.

*1975: When Owen Spann was king; Jim Eason was in mission; Ronn Owens was just evolving Thanksgiving Night; Jim Dunbar was cool and Dr. Don Rose held court at KFRC.

*More 1975: Bimbo's, Alfred's, me at 13 at Bret Harte Middle School, Rick Barry and the Warriors, memories.

*KCSM on a rainy Sunday night with a bottle of Kendall Jackson: heaven.

*KNBR: "Thee Stealing Warriors content Leader!"

*Joel Murray: Hey, enough of the drama, you know what to do.

    1. I remember listening to Ira Blue on KGO, too, and he was an eclectic. Between KNBR, KFRC and KGO, those were the days!

    2. What is different about the Bay Area now compared to back then when you all loved it so much? Think real hard now.

    3. I don't know.....everything?
I too grew up listening to these icons. What's neat is you can listen to some of the old shows on YouTube. Recently listened to Spann interview the late great Mae Brussel and then listened to Bob Trebor in his late night slot also interviewing her.

  2. 1975 was the best year of the 70's.KC and Get Down Tonight never got old. Some dance club I later read only played that one song the whole night and nobody complained. It had legs.
So they want to break up the whole KRON kult? Why not?..they made a mockery of a TV station. Only themselves to blame for KRON to lose an audience that once watched its glory days end. The Pero- Radnich twosome hijacked to just take a company down.
If I was another station would I hire a walking potential infection?.. The big three?, I wouldn't come near unless I had a gallon of bleach on me.

    2. 16...16 and half. Just barely out of model cars and Hot Wheels. I also trusted people when they told me things. That's long gone.

    1. We visited there and I equated their wines to one step above stuff from the box. There's no excuse for it. Run over to La Crema and it's so much better. Even Wente is better.

  9. It never ends with the new KRON sports segment. He revealed that the car most mentioned in rap music now is the Bentley.
SO that answers the question,What car do really stupid people with money buy?
