415 Media Exclu: Veteran Reporter/Anchor Mark Seelig Leaves KCBS Radio

Image result for mark seelig kcbs Mark Seelig, the veteran reporter/anchor has left KCBS Radio and is now doing PR/Media work for the SF-Marin Food Bank, 415 Media has learned.

A source close to Seelig told me they were both "surprised and shocked" over his decision.

"Ran into him last week --he seems real happy and at peace as well. He will be missed at KCBS, he could do it (and did it) all."

Another source indicated Seelig never quite got the credit or respect he deserved.

"But he never complained and just kept plugging along--He will be very tough to replace."

The Bay Area native had stints at KFRC and KRQR and won several industry awards.

  2. I can't blame Selig, or anyone else who decides to leave CBS Radio right now.

  3. A guy whose skills were at that level knew more than he was telling. I think I read here where CBS wants to dump radio completely.

  4. At least he can now spend more time with the KNBR board op's and producers...when he is passing out the free food to them.

  5. Pretty sad when quality people are leaving places like KCBS. Also very telling about what's happening in this and other media.

  6. Here's my take on CBS Radio right now: CBS Corp is planning a spinoff of the radio division into a separate, independent company. Recently, CBS Corp took on debt, the plan being for the parent company to benefit from the proceeds, but the spinoff company being saddled with the responsibility for repaying the debt. That, combined with the lowering revenues in the radio division, looks to me like they're trying to trash the spinoff. They're putting what they don't want into the spinoff, prior to its unloading, and treating it pretty much like a garbage can.

  7. Mark will be missed...

The one they need to replace is the guy that does the voice over commercials. That would be a great improvement.

  8. With a face like that, Mark Seelig is wasting his time doing radio. He should be on television!

  10. I always wonder what's with those furry little patches a lot of middle-age guys have at the midpoint of a receding hairline.

Just shave it off, dude! It'll give you a nice, clean hairline!

  11. I wonder if it is about the money. Some of the Bay Area's nonprofits are very profitable for their employees.

  12. Ironically, folks who work directly at or indirectly with non-profits get paid handsomely well. The management staff get paid a lot more than I was making in the private sector.

  13. Look, when you spend a lot of years working every crazy shift and on many, many holidays, the notion of working a regular job that's NOT in a 24-hour industry is very appealing. Especially when you haven't gotten the job you really wanted.
