Duane Kuiper Was Sort of Pissed Off on KNBR This Morning (Audio)

Image result for Duane Kuiper I don't always listen to Duane Kuiper on his KNBR chat with the Morning Boys but today (Tuesday) was a good time to listen if you like hearing a man acting like he'd been stood up at the Senior prom.

Take a listen here.

Kuiper was commiserating on the air over last night's latest galling Giants loss to the Dodgers.

It was your customary booster-club conversation with noted Giants' fan, Brian Murphy, who sounded almost as flustered as Kuip did as the interview moved forward.

Then the shit began to fly.

Kuiper really didn't want to do the show. "I feel like sleeping in today, really." Well, Kuip, they do pay you for this, I'll bet you cash the check.

I'll give Murphy credit for not backing down to Kuiper and trying to keep the conversation moving, but even he relented at one point telling Duano "wow, you sound sorta..." Well, shitty, would be a good start.

Ironically, this Knibber audio appetizer was good radio; a crack in the Giants' radio machine with one of its leading comrades essentially wanting no part of Tuesday reflections. At one point, I almost felt like the whole chit-chat was staged. But I don't think Kuip would roll that way; I would be curious to hear his reaction to real-life issues --Tuesday was tough stuff but hell, I listened.

  1. I only listen to the goofy boys when Krukow & Kupier are on. I think Kuiper was fine--the goofy boys were more swarmy than usual mixed with goofy chipperness & Kuiper finally had enough.

    1. Thought that Kruk was the only jackass homer in the booth until listening to Kuip this morning. What a moron. Pretty much said that Mad Bum's behavior last night was OK because he has 3 rings. I love Mad Bum, but he lost his cool last night over virtually nothing
and probably cost his team the game.

    2. I do the same thing--listen only when Kruk and maybe Kuip is on. Otherwise, it's annoying to hear Murph squeal like a teenage girl. What a wimp. I tried listening to the new 1050AM show and found if uncompelling. Frandsen is fine but Drew and the comedian don't have any substance. Back to The Game sans Chad.

  2. Bochy took out Bum when he had a dominating 1 hitter going, then put in his world renowned arson squad.
Remember how the local media scorched Mark Jackson for the 6 or 7 games over a season they say he SHOULD have won? Bochy lost that many this week alone.

  3. I watched the game last night and Kruk & Kuip's hubris was glaring. Gosh, I hope this Giants tailspin continues. Serves them (the whole organization) right.

  4. This second half slide has been so much fun. The Giants are the most over-hyped sports team in the Bay Area. No one criticizes them for whatever reason. They never can seem to do wrong. The Chronicle beat writer never seems to pen anything negative. And be damned if you say anything bad on KNBR or CSN.

The partnership with KNBR pretty much kiboshes any negative calls or comments. KNBR shouldn't be an owner of the team. There's no impartiality. But Swarmy Larry Baer has everyone being an ass-kissing Giants fan.

This year has brought out the arrogance of everything Giants. It has brought out all of the front runners and event seekers. This is so much fun. The broadcasters are the worst ones. Kuiper should thank his lucky stars he has a job. His brother, Glen, is a way better talent than he.

Poor poor Giants fans. What are you going to do? Go stick your Pandas, the Pence Razor, MadBum's attitude and your Buster Posey bobbleheads up your asses! Don't worry, there will be another event you can chase. That's what it's all about, right?

    1. That perspective is so skewed I can't believe it. I subscribe to the Chronicle and we must be reading different newspapers. You're right on KNBR, but only to a degree. Giants fans are an entitled bunch, but three World Series in six or seven years will do that

    2. When the Chronicle executive editor has a Giants calendar hanging in her office this tells you all you need to know about the lack of impartiality in the bay area media.

    3. So, if the exec editor of the NY Times has a Yankees banner up in his or her office, it reflects their impartiality. The Chronicle's baseball section devotes half a page to the A's and half to the Giants and one full page to boxscores. The Giants are written about on other pages because they're fighting for the wildcard and the A's have been out of it since the start of June.

  5. No mention in the Chron or on KNBR of the Giants org Tweet "...gets KKKike for third straight time". Gee,its made national headlines as racist and well, not Kosher.
    NO mention at all.

    1. Baer is a Jew, that organization is polished. If you think they would intentionally put out something racist you are more of an idiot than I already take you for.

    2. PC running totally amok! Look to be offended and you will never be disappointed! Oh, by the way Stan is an IDIOT.

    3. I'm an idiot because of what the Giant's posted--then DELETED?
It was there is a fact.
Me offended only? Is that why its headlines on Yahoo?
The only idiots are you boys with yer GIANT heads in the sand.

  6. We waited 50 plus years for the Giants to win a World Series in San Francisco - and now because of the success they had for a years we expect it to be that way going forward.

  7. Glad to see the Ants in freefall. Can't stand the organization, their stupid fans, their homer announcers, Renel doing the PA at the ballpark..ugh!!

    1. Giants fans are the worst in baseball. Front runners all the way. Their announcers, with the exception of Dave Flemming, are bad. That's right, even Jon Miller. Renel doing the PA was part of a marketing ploy started back in the 1980s by Pat Gallagher, who hired someone who would eventually go to jail for a sex crime. Then they hired that full-of-herself no talent Sherry Davis, who thought she was the bomb. Again, more marketing ploys. Renel has it all: female, radio personality and she's African American. Covers all of the bases. What happened to Roy Steele and John Ramsey, who were some of the best PA people around?

    2. Agree with 1:26pm on the Giants PA announcer.
Whenever that chick opens her mouth expect to see a huge disco ball hanging from the ceiling and hearing loud disco music playing.
      Complete with dated 70's clothes.

  8. I heard it. Murphy called it "Harbaughesque" referring to coach Harbaugh's infamous morning interviews. They never knew which Harbaugh they were getting Monday mornings, but they were usually bad. Today sounded like a combo of things - Kuiper had a late night and would've liked the sleep and the loss last night was very tough, probably one of the toughest of the season, for many reasons. Kuiper and Krukow both retired as Giants, they travel with the team, and once players, always a player. Kuiper can't say it on air, but I think he was angry, like many of us fans, that they pulled Bumgarner when it looked like he had stuff left and the Dodgers do not hit left handers. Opposing pitcher, Clayton Kershaw, was even quoted in the paper that he expected Bumgarner to come out for the eighth. I have gotten into the habit of going to sleep or turning the channel when the Giants bullpen comes in. It's not worth my sanity. I'm not that much of a masochist.

  9. I find it hilarious that in the Bay Area--the liberal bastion of the nation and one of the leading liberal centers in the WORLD (I say this as a good thing, because I'm a Lib)...has as its baseball hero a guy (Bumgarner) who's about as "country" and "redneck" as they come. One of my buddies says that his cousin lives in the same neighborhood as the Bumgarners (when they live here for the season). That cousin's wife once asked Bumgarner's wife if they like living here in the Bay Area. MadBum's wife replied "no...they are uncomfortable here...it's too weird"...and that they can't wait til the season is over so that they can get back home to North Carolina.

    LOL!

    1. Breaking news: A random guy on the Internet, who has a buddy who has a cousin who is a neighbor to the Bumgarner family, is not a credible primary information source.

    2. Bungarner and Posey and Lincecum are on record as wanting to get out of meeting Obama in the past World Series Champ visits to the WH. I bet they and a dozen other Giants.
No worries that next year they have to meet Hillary.

    3. Calling BS on this Obama meeting post .... stories I read all had all three of them happy and proud to go to the WH, even if Lincecum opted out of trip No. 3.

  10. Boch took out Mad Bum because he felt Puig got into his head too much, which is unlike Mad Bum. It did cost them the game, but the inevitable may have happened much sooner by way of no strike zone.
D-Kuip is right in being fed up with the Lockstep Larry-led suppression of free speech. Bochy has as many rings as John McGraw in Giants History - benefit of the doubt. Dave Righetti has done so much with so little beyond Mad Bum-Cueto, and before that Cainer-Timmy, benefit here too. Hensley "Bam-Bam" Muelens? Luckiest hitting coach ever. Bam-Bam more like Boo-Boo. The math is running out, and so should Muelens. Don't know about the base coaches and how much player overhaul is needed. Free agent closer? Yes!
All of this Giants frustration isn't just a reflection of poor play and poor reaction by the fans. It also reflects on Knibber and the Cloud Clowns - too insulated from the needed criticisms. Don't like that the karma is biting some of the cool players like Buster and Brandon Crawford, but Baer, Lee Hammer, the Tricky Dickeys, even Ted Griggs? Let's see if they all have the courage to own to their own mistakes. HAHAHAHAHA, that's a good one! Too delusional.
Simply put, it's up to all unfazed fans, listeners, viewers, and bloggers who want to do something about this Giant mess. Otherwise, enjoy the rest of the freefall. Oh, and their farm system is complete garbage. (Sacramento's baseball fall may only be matched by the non-Lieberman broadcasting favorites up in the State Capitol. Wasn't that way when they were the A's AAA team.)

    1. Remember back in April or May when the Dodgers rookie pitcher had a no hitter for 8 innings vs the Giants, and the Dodger manager took him out resulting in the Giants rally to win that game?
Did you think in a million years Bochy would do pretty much the same damn thing?
Ah,but those managers are baseball conservatives to the core!.

      Delete
    2. That same manager did the same thing just the other day. Cost that pitcher a chance to pitch a perfect game! I guess he enjoys ruining his own pitchers' chances at no-nos. :p Yeah Kuiper sounded pissed this morning. So what? All Giants fans are pissed off right now at the way they've self-destructed. If nothing else, it's entertaining to watch the knibber boys try to put a positive spin on the Giants' self-destruction. It can't be done no matter how hard you try. Ah well, there's always "next year," right?

  11. I listen to Kruk and Kuip most of the time when their on in the a.m. most of the time during the this second half of this season they have come across as very SALTY. Their pissed off!!! and why??? because they see their four World Series rings going down the drain, plain and simple.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Kreuger was in a similar mood on Monday's show. They all know the Giant's season is circling the drain. I think it makes for entertaining radio.

  13. Fairly certain Bochy took out Baumgartner for his own safety. He was due up 2nd in the 8th inning and he'd likely have gotten drilled by the Dodgers' pitcher. One can only imagine what would have happened next in that scenario. I don't think Bochy wanted to find out.

    1. In that close a game, no way would they hit him. The Giants would have put in a pinch runner, which is exactly what the Dodgers wouldn't have wanted. Bumgarner was at 97 pitches and I bet Bochy thought he wasn't settling down enough or expended too much energy in the fracas.

  14. The problem with the interview was Kuip, as a paid shill for the Giants, can't and won't say anything of substance. So when there is controversy he comes across as petulant, pissy, withholding, protective of the organization and the God Baer. Same for Krukow. Makes for usually run of the mill interviews. Man, it would be great if they just came out and said honestly what they knew or felt- yeah when hell freezes over.
