I've been hot and cold on Katie Marzullo--there's a lot of handwringing at KGO over her apparent lack of love from the bosses.
Marzullo is well-liked, for the most part, among newsroom staff, but her anchoring draws another story.
I think she's good on the weekend; nothing spectacular, but pleasant enough.
Not too long ago Marzullo was rumored to be groomed for a prime anchor spot, not the case now.
She's overcome a lot of personal issues and is a hard worker. Don't count her out yet.
Love Katie. Bring her back!
ReplyDeleteTell her to bring some disinfectant while she's at it. $3.00 at Grocery Outlet.
Deletelike this lady - I like her delivery. Unfortunately she has gone from covering the anchor desk to covering a cockroach infestation in San Jose. Great talent being wasted. I spent many years in management (but not broadcasting management, if there is such a term), and for the life of me I can't figure out what the suits at KGO-TV were thinking, are thinking of they are thinking at all. Thank you for bringing up a good story, Rich..
ReplyDeleteKatie is a wonderful human being. She is so smart and professional. A throwback. Tracey Watfuckface has had it out for her for a while. You know why? Because Katie is smarter than she is. That's how it works there. Why do you think recent hires are idiot air heads like Aqui and Zooves? It's obvious. They can be controlled. Just ask a certain weather guesser. Management is intimidated by smart people.
ReplyDeleteKatie, and many others, deserve a lot better.
SPOT ON! Tracey is afraid of anyone with brains, gumption or a mind of their own. She'd get rid of Ashley if she could but he's the face of the station.
DeleteShe is a great anchor, too bad, she no longer get the evening anchor spot.
ReplyDeleteI was sure that, when Carolyn Johnson left for LA, Katie Marzullo would succeed her. She should have.
ReplyDeleteLove Katie. If you ever needed proof we don't live in a meritocracy here it is. It's all about how much a glamor puss you are and how big your boobs are. Actually KGO has some of the biggest boobs on air - male and female. Bring back a pro bring back Katie.
ReplyDeleteI still miss Carolyn Johnson! She was the best.
ReplyDeleteKatie was cool and capable on the weekend news, but not what you would call a natural. Often an awkward and wooden approach when she tried to force a smile. However, she could grow on you when you got used to it. At first I wondered how she got that job, then I decided I liked her.
ReplyDeleteI think Katie Marzullo is great and I was surprised they didn't make her the anchor after Carolyn Johnson left for SoCal. It's such a waste to see her as a field reporter. She should move on to another station or to a market that makes her a permanent anchor because that's where she belongs. I really don't understand the TV news business because some of the most talented people I've seen in this market during the past decade have moved on or have been vastly underutilized in favor of some middling talent that management brought in from another market. To steal a Trumpism: "Sad!"
ReplyDeleteLove her!
ReplyDeleteI am a Katie Marzullo fan and believe she be used at least as a primary back-up anchor for Kristen Sze and Ama Daetz.
ReplyDeleteNever seen or heard of her. Wouldn't waste five minutes watching the local news. There's really nothing worth checking out.
ReplyDeleteHey 11:46 AM-why do you read this blog if you don't watch local news? Go to Twitter or Facebook-lots of (un)reliable news sources there.
ReplyDeleteIs there any more pointless post than the kind like 11:46? Great, we get to read from an Anonymous poster that he doesn't watch local news. Wow, that's just such a stupendous, insightful, needed to know comment. We're all so edified by it.
ReplyDeleteWorked with Katie early in career. Great news personality and person. Glad to hear she still is.
ReplyDeleteI miss Katie. Wish to see more of her during the week rather than just on the weekends.
