  1. How many stations are they on? That's about $300,000 per year per man, and probably only if the chips fall the right way (at least that's how most contracts are written).

  2. Surprised how low it is. Don Rose made that in 1980 and he only had to pull the oars for one station. And I assume that is just for them. Some hosts own their own show and are responsible for paying the staff as well.

  3. Sorry...400,000 per year, but most contracts only broadcast the max amount, the amount the signatory receives if all the hoops are jumped through. Typically, they will get somewhat less than that. They may have to pay for their own production out of that (their own people that help them, in other words).

  5. For two guys who giggle almost as defamer Glenn Beck? Wow. Cumulus: clueless. These guys are jokes.

  6. They're only on two stations, maybe 3. I'm sure if they grow out they'll reap more money.

THERE'S NO DOUBT cumulus will try to shovel this FOX-Lite shit to every station west of the Rockies

    1. Without a doubt. When Cumulus decides to demolish KABC just like what they did to KGO, A&G will land on that station, too.

Heck, they may enter nationwide syndication through WestwoodOne. Their current late morning host Johnathon Brandmeier, who took over for Dennis Miller last year, hasn't gained any traction whatsoever. And it's bombing badly over at his flagship station, WLS (another Cumulus station mismanaged into ratings oblivion).

  7. NO, A&G are talented. Cumulus going DTT for many, many reasons - not because of signing A&G. Jesse Gistand on KFAX 1100AM Monday 5p-7p is the best local talent on-air; and he's on only MONDAY, sitting in for Craig Roberts. Savage, almost local...if only he was more consistent. "Ronn" is Irdu for "Tired". That's all.

  8. Note to self:

    Do not purchase "A & G" T-shirts, mugs, caps and/or "other memorabilia."

I'd better put that somewhere that will remind me, every day.

  9. Hey...I've got an idea. Why not bring Cory and Joel on board. What with their sad attempt at dinning around part two waayyy after the fact. Im sure they'll climb abord the sinking ship known as kgo for a quarter of what A&G will get. Can someone run that by the cloud please??

  10. Who really cares what their contract is and how much they make. It's none of my business and it should not the business of every one else either.

  11. Like a couple of other posters above noted, I don't think they showed them the money, or at least not very much. A peak amount of $400,000 per year (which they probably won't get) and to be on three stations, one of them being in San Francisco, that's chicken feed. There are probably ratings and billing criteria they'd have to reach in order to get the full $400,000 -- and we know how that will turn out.

  12. I hate to see this continuous degrading of of KGO. I fully support the demise of Cumulus Media Co. They have ruined my favorite radio station and I want to see them pay!

  13. You haters are idiots. A & G are on in LA, San Diego, Phoenix, San Fran, Sacramento and Portland. Could be missing one. They were on in Honolulu as well until the station went sports talk. You morons that aren't intelligent enough to understand the show need to never vote. And guess what? They don't want you or need you. It's too late for you. Continue to worship at the alter of religious nuts like Hannity and Beck, and the old and worn out Rush. Your IQ will continue to drop.

  14. I met with A&G 3 yrs ago about producing their show. It wasn't a good fit for a number of reasons, but have no doubt they're very conservative. They may pretend they're the "regular guy" show but that guy is a middle aged conservative who makes fun of Hillary, Bernie, and probably republicans. At the end of the day they are the anti-taxer type.

Personally, I don't like their show but I completely understand why it works, and who it appeals to. I also think it's a solid move by Cumulus to sign them because in the grand scheme they're a proven commodity and not THAT expensive.

These guys are relatively inoffensive, so advertisers won't be scared, unlike the rest of the crap on KSFO.

And as 4:03 mentioned above Cumulus will stick them on as many stations as possible, ironically recreating the mess that got radio to this point. That said I'd probably do the same thing, considering the alternative.

As for the rest oF KGO, that's far from a solution. Trying to go conservative is the wrong move. They tried to go non political with drex and chip, but they're wholly uninteresting. That lineup will surely change.

Funny about Owens. Only cares about himself. Always been the case. His ratings are god awful.

I've said it for years...KGO dropped their other shows but kept him. Yet his ratings are terrible. Why is that? Maybe because he was only good in a time when he was surrounded by real talent and radio was the only option.

A&G is the only decent decision they made. The rest of them will amount to nothing.

I hope it works out for Copie but there's no resources for them to succeed. He's a decent person.

    1. The kept Ronn because he had an airtight contract it would have been too expensive to buy him out, then they signed another contract not long ago, so he must have some ratings.

      Delete
    2. Ronn doesn't have ratings. He has a few long-term relationships with some advertisers but his ratings are very bad. What ratings he does have are terribly skewing. 18-34 is nonexistent. He's only because of the contract and a desire by the company to not look worse than they do. They kept him on as a bridge to news but it didn't work. Then they wanted to go back to talk and kept him again because of it. They should have fired him when they let everyone else go.

  20. This whole situation has major screw up written all over it, in more ways than one. First of all I'm just stating what I think is correct, none of this should necessarily be taken as a defense of Ronn. But why should Ronn move to a different station and time slot if he does not have to, if Cumulus failed to read the contract correctly that is on them. Of course Ronn is going to fight it, and why shouldn't he, he recently signed a new contract, so back then apparently Cumulus wanted him, not now it seems like, well tough. They must have known if the contract was not airtight Ronn would fight it, he has been in the same location for 40 years, adn this time slot for many years. And what about Ethan Bearman if Ronn stays? Where does that leave him? He does not sound like a push over (and I'm no fan of his)so I'm sure he would threaten with lawyers, unless he would get a similar time slot. Now there is some doubt about the contract with A and G, another major screw up, did these executives actually announce the new schedule and fire the morning news crew before everything was set in stone? Perhaps Ethan can do 6 to 10 a.m. if A&G does not come to an agreement with Cumulus.

My question is who are those idiots at Cumulus responsible for this mess? I know they are not radio people, I know they don't get the Bay Area, but I did think they were business people, doesn't seem like it. I'm a woman over 60 working in retail, I have never been an executive, or a manager, I have had my own business, and have an insurance license so I understand contracts, but it seems to me someone or several people at Cumulus screwed up big time, whatever their salary is it is way too much, they are not even worth $50.000-60.000.

    1. I was told last week by a certain someone that the Program Director at KGO makes less than $80,000. 10 years ago that job paid 10 times that much. I guess you take what you can get but for $80 k in a Bay Area management position? That's a joke.

  21. I'm a talk radio junkie for over 30 years. I lean left and hate the right wing crap on KSFO. I don't don't find A&G that entertaining, but rather boring. The good news is that Stephanie Miller is now on 910 at the same time as A&G. Maybe 910 will pick up Pat Thurston and John Rothman, and dump Cory and Joel and JV and Elvis. Bad radio. KGO is pretty much dead to me.

    1. I don't see 910 making any better programming decision that Cumulus, they had the chance to pick John Rothmann over Gil, or put him in Joel and Cory's slot, he was doing fill in and political analysis, but was let go along with Len Tillem who had a show on 910, so don't hold your breath. The trend on both KGO and 910 is trying to appeal to the lowest denominator. Gil is boring as hell, Cory and Joel, JV and Elvis, Chip and Drex all are boring, non interesting and rarely talks about anything of importance. KGO had Angie Coric (not sure I'm spelling her last name right) but she was intelligent, well informed and took calls, but was fired after a few months. Cory is the program director at 910, I have no faith he will make any positive changes, he thinks talk radio is all about the host talking, not about callers, he doesn't get that listeners are not interested in listening to host drone on for 2 to 3 hours, the show then becomes about them and not the callers and listeners, not good radio.

  23. Wow, being a fake conservative/libertarian pays well.

Well it does if you constantly spew out the narrative.

And since the narrative of the Uniparty is "Never Trump" they are anti-Trump, so there's something many of you will get off on with them.

They are neocons, have Washington Examiner, etc. hacks on several times per week.

    2. There is no question they are W. Bush types.

But that's what works, I guess. Certainly not adding a younger demo in the Bay Area.

And yeah, the show is the same every day, but so are most shows. That's what people like.
