Best Band Ever ~ Devotion, Would You Mind, Reasons, Evil, Shining Star, September...We have lost so many talented Musicians, and the year is still young?! Godspeed Maurice White, thanks for the excellent music.
I saw the group at Pine Knob Auditorium near Detroit. It must have been about 1977. Very professional and entertaining. I didn't even know Maurice was ill. No Auto-Tune back then, you had to have a voice and a stage presence.
When That's The Way of the World was written, recorded, and produced, Maurice White declared it the theme song for Earth Wind & Fire. Even with more great songs, albums, and films afterwards, That's The Way of the World is still the very pinnacle of Earth Wind & Fire's existence - what an excellent mix of Maurice White's voice & leadership, Verdine White's killer bass, Philip Bailey's harmonies, and the rest of the band's impeccable contributions! I hope that that thumb instrument Maurice White loved to play - the kalimba - didn't play a role in his fatal Parkinson's, i.e the thumb nerves reaching his music-loving and people-loving mind. It would make a sad story tougher to take because he had so much playing the kalimba.
Truly Super Indeed; Thank You for posting, Rich!! HOCK!!!
