Somerville, the New Gandhi; KTVU Channels KRON; Heather Holmes and Darya: Boob Tube En Fuego; More BS at KQED; 415 Media Sunday Brunch

 SUNDAY BRUNCH

*Frank Somerville, yeah, serious TV news journalists take to Facebook to show their soul. You're a regular Gandhi.

*The incredibly annoying new edict on local TV newscasts: anchors now showing fake concern about draught with endless nods to weatherman/lady: "This rain is so great, we really need it." Just shut up already, really.

You INSULT most viewers who are smart enough to see sincerity versus phony. I keep seeing this BS played out night after night. Clue: Just stick to the teleprompter and read your script.

*Frank, I could care less if you were to wear a thousand hair plugs. It's your righteousness and utter bullshit. Look up the word, "vanity", Frank.

*KTVU: the most dysfunctional TV station in the market next to KRON.

*Heather Holmes is not only intensely insecure she has numerous vendettas --all the which make her a terrific anchor, right? Wrong. Holmes is a class-A diva with limited depth and an abundance of ego. Maybe she and her snot are destined for Toledo.

*I've never seen more nervous news readers than I do at Channel 2. If their management were as persistent in telling air talent not to talk to me as they are with news presentation, then their ratings would be better, chitty-chat talk and all, god, speaking of bullshit.

*Ross Palombo: between the fake voice and on-air histrionics he'd be great at KRON. Wait a minute!

*Heather Holmes and the other diva: Darya Folsom: boob tube en fuego.

*Jana Katsuyama: KTVU's new starter showcase. Great, basically a 2016 Wendy Tokuda who doesn't flub her lines. OMT, JK, 86 the arrogance displayed around co-workers, some of whom think you're a witch.

*Mike Mibach: trying every day to act like Chuck Todd.

*Today on Facebook, Frank's gonna get choked up by a woman in Fremont who plays the ukulele with her toes.

*THIS JUST IN: Somerville gets real deep with his legion of FB fans: offers prayers for ailing Toonces, the driving cat.

*Early Sunday morning on KNBR: more dead air than a Colma cemetery plot.

*Whispers galore as to what the hell happened, on-air, Friday Night with KRON's Gary Radnich, who seemed flustered and all shook up, at best. I didn't see it just heard even digital boy who washes his car was perplexed.

*Damon Bruce is about due to tell you he's great, again. We haven't heard it for at least 5 minutes.

*KQED, the land of millionaire managers --internal strife galore at PBS-SF but haven't we been down this road before? They never learn.

*Only the Chronicle would try to brag that Sean Penn once wrote opinions for the rag. Bizarre, even by Comical standards.

*Reggie Aqui and Natasha Zouves: A really bad Steve and Eydie. By the way, that new morning show? Great, how revolutionary --keep on dancin'.

*KTVU News Director to prospective reporter: Can you talk like a pirate?

*BREAKING NEWS: Nobody that I know of is pregnant at KPIX but things could change.

*That new weather gal at KRON is apparently aware of Bentley man, so yeah, just like the last counterpart, put out word that she wants no part of his schtick.

*Wilkes Bashford is having a vodka over with Herb Caen in heaven.

  1. Damon Bruce & Karel...2 money-grubbing divas who think their shit don't stink. Hmph, check Bouley's driveway on that. And as for Damon...ASS!!!!

  2. Damon Bruce almost seems too stupid to be insecure but probably not.

  4. I trust Frank and KTVU to keep my Walnut Creek family safe during El Nino. The KTVU mobile app helps me save money on shopping. No more Don Hayward for me.

  5. I have felt for years that Frank was a shallow boob, one time he went on and on about how he loves white shirts. He also used to show photos of his Acura NSX that he napped in between broadcasts.Another time KTVU showed a photo of Fab Frank topless at a raiders game.Ted Baxter reincarnate.

  6. Neither Herb Caen or Wilkes Bashford are in heaven.Caen used to shakedown retailers and auto dealers for freebees and Bashford stole from the city for years and should have gone to prison along with Harry Denton. If anyone does not believe do your homework.

    3. Interesting insight on Herb Caen and his relationship with retailers in the City.

  7. Rich, what changed?

Up until a year ago, or so, you wrote in high praise of Frank Sommerville, and his on-air style. Now, he can do no right. He must have pissed you off, big time.

I admit that my impression of him has been that he's a bit on the pompous side. But, I've never met him ... and I know many whose on-air "aura," belie their off-air personality.

  8. >*Frank, I could care less if you were to wear a thousand hair plugs.

Then why do you keep mentioning them?

  9. You nailed it on Sommerville. I've had to BLOCK "Frank Sommerville KTVU" on my FaceBook from all the shares of his STUPID posts from my friends.

However, Elizabeth Cook is back on-air, and it appears she is a proponent of breast-feeding. Life is good.

  14. Holmes was on the other day in a weird faux punk get up, red dress with a strange back patch pocket thing, but the spikey leather bracelet was R.E. Dick U Louse.
So sad. Like Terilyn Joe with a snarl...

  15. I know it's income, but that picture of "The Snorge" on your homepage made me tape a piece of paper over my computer display.

  16. Dear Leon Foonman, I know for a fact Caen used to extort merchandise for a mention in his column. The store is still in business and I was told by the owners daughter. You may also want to poll SF restaurant of yesteryear.Get your facts straight, asshole.

You think an anonymous person claiming that he was told something by the "daughter" of the owner of an unidentified business about something that supposedly happened at least 20 years ago has any credibility?

    3. Dear Sean,What a sexist comment, how do you know that anonymous is a "he"? By the way, if you remember watergate "deep throat was an anonymous source.

    4. Anon@1:19.
Deep throat was not an anonymous source. Woodward and Bernstein knew who he/she was.

The only way this anonymous source is like deep throat is if he/she can perform like Linda Lovelace.

  17. I like Heather too. She looks like my wife. Not perfect, but the best that I can get. That is the state of female anchors in the Bay Area. Celia Vega is national now and Marla Tellez is at Good Day LA.... lucky that we can keep Peggy Bunker!

    OK, that got me laughing...!

  19. I enjoyed the snotty comment about Heather since she has been on air with snot dripping - cute with feet of clay. She is better than on match.com (I did not bother to see if she was there).

I think the Gary Radish dust up was because Mayor Libby sent him a cookie for his support of something related to the Raiders Gary retorted I'm a big shot or something like that apparently wanting a dozen cookies or fellatio from her honor.

  20. Now I like Frank as much as the next guy but the last KTVU (male) anchor to have hair that thick, real or otherwise, was Michael Tuck, of the short lived "Tuck and Fortner Report" from the early seventies. Some of us remember when Wilkes Bashford sold clothes made by people with names that many thought were different kinds of pastas.

  22. And this breaking.
The Chronicle's Raider beat writer can't spell Inglewood.
    He thinks it is Ingleside.
Where is the editor? She is too busy reviewing the Giants trading cards.

  24. I don't think Acqui and Zouves are terrible. Acqui lacks the gravitas of most male anchors I'm used to, but I'm older. I think he's fine if KGO is trying to attract a younger demo. He's actually pretty quick with a quip and comment, quicker than Zouves anyway.
