Robin Winston OUT at KGO Radio; Takes Full-Time KRON Traffic Morning Gig; 415 Media Exclu

WINSTON OUT AT KGO RADIO; KRON GIG AWAITS

Bay Area, your new morning traffic anchor at KRON is Robin Winston --but that's only part of the story.

The well-liked Winston, who was the full-time traffic voice in the afternoon/evening news blocks for KGO Radio was, according to my reliable broadcast sources, taken off her shift last week and escorted out of the building, in tears no less, by KGO personnel. This, in spite of Winston giving prior notice to management that she was leaving to take the KRON position.

So much for the diplomacy route.

Winston will begin her KRON traffic duties January 4th.

She had also auditioned for the KGO-TV traffic position recently held by the fired Leyla Gulen.

  1. I'm glad she's gone. She always loved to play the race card. You don't know the whole story.

    1. I agree with 8:08. Well liked? Hardly. She's the black Karel; always whining about how the world owes her everything.

    2. I knew Robin at KGO, not extremely well, but enough to know your completely full of shit. And presumably white and not all that talented.

    3. 8:56 that's a cute Facebook worthy comeback, dumbass. Stick to social media where you belong.

    4. Fuck You, Weintraub. You're just like your bitch Christine...old, crusty & only worth calling on when no one else is available. You make Bernie sound like President Obama. Go back to your playroom & pretend you're a talk show host.

    5. I'm old? Damn...Glad I dropped by.

      KGO has "staffers?"

Just be glad Rich allows anonymous posters because you know I'd put your foot straight up your own ass.

    6. And yes, like you, Rich is gutless for allowing anonymous posts. In fact, the initial racist post in and of itself is only made by the gutless and angry crowd.

I've been doing sports in other markets because talk radio is dead. Check the #s. They don't lie.

    7. KGO Staffer, bigoted asshole of the year, 2016 winner. What a POS.

    8. David, I was waiting for you to drop the "I've been doing..." comment. No one gives a damn about you or your irrelevant bullshit. Oral Diahrrea say what?

    9. @KGO Staffer, I'm extremely surprised that KGO allows you to drag their brand's integrity through the mud, with all these unfounded character judgments. All I can say is Wow!!! In fact, you're lucky many ambitious people don't have time to sue you and your co-signer for slander. Seriously. Lol. No one who's heard Robin speak, would believe that a man of principles, could fix his mouth in such a way, as to lie like that. Shame on you, sir. Just stop, dude.

    10. Yes, yes, you were waiting.

I'm sure you're a real talent. After all, you're anonymous in the soon-to-be-non-existent newsroom.

    11. It just occurred to me that the original poster (op) isn't someone in the KGO Newsroom, or on staff.

The reality is no one who works there would be outwardly racist etc. There's a ton of problems at the station but those are management/corporate level issues. The staff is generally made up of nice and professional people; not folks like the OP.

So continue your negative and awful anonymous commentary about people. You're assuredly a miserable person, bothered by your own lot.

    12. David, a racist that keeps his mouth shut at the workplace is still a racist. You just don't spot or hear him. It's online avenues like this that allow you & I to vent our opinions/frustrations. We both have the same opportunities to speak. By the way, I am a KGO'er, so thanks for playing.

Threatening physical violence on a blog, so classy.

I hope future potential employers don't read that.

Anyone who says "your" when they mean "you're" shouldn't be talking about talented vs. untalented.

Oh, you mean like 3:53 who wrote "It's online avenues like this that allow you & I to vent..."

Obviously, you missed that one, yet consider yourself the resident grammarian. What a laugh.

  2. Kron 4. Thats a major step backwards into a two bit dump of a station. Good luck to her.

  3. So they dumped George to round out the color wheel?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Round out the color wheel? KRON has more black on air people than any other station, including the market's only prime time black anchor.... Don't know why George is going.

      Delete
    2. Or perhaps KRON hired her because she's beautiful and has over a decade of experience. Stop making this about color. Get over yourself.

    3. > Don't know why George is going.

      $$$$$

And they like fresh tatas over graying hair any day.

    4. She plays the victim card. At the surface, she seems nice, but be careful. There is a reason why her career will never advance beyond traffic, the lowest of the low.

  4. Escorting dismissed employees out of the building is standard procedure in most industries. That's just the way it is. Says nothing about KGO.

    1. Thanks for your two cents KGO management.

    2. Actually it says a lot about KGO because they asked her to stay longer since there was no one to cover her shift and then out of the blue says never mind wed like for you to leave right now. Who does that? How unprofessional.

    3. This blog seems to be a hang out for paranoid claims about the evil local media. But those of us who work in other industries, like high tech for example, understand that terminated employees are typically cut off from computer access, are watched as they remove any personal items from their work area, and are then exited from the building.

NO, I don't work for KGO. I work for one of the biggest high tech companies in the world and that's just how things work these days.

  5. KGOer and Staffer can't be anyone who actually works at the station as Robin is one of the kindest, smartest, most hardworking broadcasters I've met. It's sad that anyone who would say such a thing is too cowardly to do so with there own name.

  6. U better keep the Radman away from her:)

  7. That picture, is that a real person or a doll??

    1. I asked the same question but the moron that runs this blog deemed it unworthy to post. Nonsense.

    2. Yes, Robin is a doll. Classy, smart and very attractive.

  8. I am aghast to see these ugly comments about Robin. She is such a beautiful spirit and hard-worker. Nobody I know has ever said anything mean about Robin. She's always upbeat, optimistic, and does her grueling job with no complaints. Robin is an amazing person who will be missed. I have no idea who KGOer and Staffer are. I agree with Mel its too bad they are too chicken to speak their minds with their own names.

  9. How do you Pull the Race Card in a Traffic Report?

    ReplyDelete
  10. From the few times I have seen her, professional perfection! She is too perfect. I read about life like, human androids/robots replacing on air news people in the future. Could she be the first one? If you could check the lower portion of her back, you might just find a on/off switch! She is great and will do just fine.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Robin is pefect--classy and hot, but she needs lower cut tops.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I worked with Robin for the better part of three years off and on and she was one of the bright lights at KGO. Upbeat, hard working, friendly, and rarely made a mistake on the air. She never complained, never thought anyone owed her anything, and was content to just do a solid, professional job. KGO's loss is KRON's gain. I think she paid her dues with those long 7 hour traffic shifts with five reports an hour, and I hope her career continues to move upward.

    ReplyDelete
  13. 'KGO Staffer' and KGO 'er are probably one and the same. Some pathetic, twisted little puts, ( I think that means a little penis, right Rich?) who just gets off trying to make people angry. Kind of like the little kid who pokes an angry dog with a stick through a fence just to get some jollies. He does it because he knows he can do it and not get bit by the angry canine. And he laughs like a sick little hyena as he does it. What a sick, dysfunctional little turd of a human being.

  14. Am I the only one who thinks it was kinda' stupid to "escort her out of the building...", when all she had to do was pull out her KRON ID, which would then allow her to go BACK INTO THE BUILDING SHE WAS JUST ESCORTED OUT OF? I think whoever "escorted her out of the building", was stupid, since KRON and KGO SHARE the same building! Maybe the more correct term, should have been, "escorted out of the KGO offices". But as for Robin, all I can say about her is that she seems to have a bangin' body, and she does fit in with the other "breasts" at KRON...

    1. Or you can consider the geograghy. KGO Radio and KRON are not in the same building. They escort everone out as if they are criminals. It's unpleasant at the very least, ungrateful, and repugnant when the employee has been of long time in good standing.

      Delete
    2. Oops, sorry. I woulda' thought that KGO radio and KGO TV were in the same building. It certainly would make sense!

      Delete
    3. Easy mistake, but they aren't owned by the same company or affiliated in any way.

  15. 8:08 and 8:40--
REALLY? Robin playing the "race card?" WHEN? I work here at KGO. I've NEVER heard her go "racial" about ANYTHING. In fact, blacks would probably complain that she's not "black enough" or doesn't "sound ghetto...like us."

She is very sweet, funny, and tried to fit in as "one of the guys." She also has a KILLER bod.

I wish her well in her new job. She deserves it.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I worked with Robin for years. She worked 7 straight hours on the traffic desk without a break every day. When they moved to the new building they banned food in the newsroom cubicals. So, she had to hide it to eat lunch. She sounded great, clear and concise. She was a professional in every sense of the word and I never heard her complain. I worked next to her, not in some office down the hall. I'm not surprised by the shabby treatment by management, but I would be surprised if any critics in this thread really knew Robin at all. I wish her the best at KRON. She'll get some respect there.

  17. KGO TV and KGO Radio were once both ABC O&O's. ABC divested itself of "The ABC Radio Network", most of which was eventually folded into Cumulus. Cumulus first moved its' SF radio stations out of 900 front to 55 Hawthorne, and in the process they violated their lease terms at 55 Hawthorne, which gave the building management a Golden Opportunity to screw Cumulus over on the lease; they refused to renew and charged Cumulus an enormous premium for overstaying the lease, while they built out the new studios at 750 Battery. KSFO, KGO, KNBRs 680 and 1050, KFOGs 104.5 and 97.7, KSJO 92.3, and KSAN 107.7 "the bone" are all broadcast out of that facility; that's 8 dial positions total all efficiently serviced from one digitally-routed facility with key equipment all in one rack. Parts of KFOG, KSFO and KGO are now automated overnights/weekends.

FWIW, you can actually see the old 900 Front building from the Broadway side of the facility; KRON now occupies our former studio space on the 3rd floor.

    So now you know.
