Hollywood Squares circa 1976.

Who would represent the Bay Area 415 Media Squares of 2015?

You pick 'em and have some fun.

  1. Karel could take the place of Paul Lynde in the center square...either him or Jim Gabbert.

    1. Karel would be the token gay ala Bruce Vilanch in the more successful Squares of the 80's.

  2. Honestly - No one worthy of being the center square.
Maybe Frank Sommerville... Maybe Dan Ashley... Maybe well - you tell me.

  3. I'd hate to be the guy that sits below Jan Wahl...oh fuck, look out!!!

  4. I'd place horse face aka The Morning KRON diva in the center square surrounded on all other squares by the hottest weather women and newscasters with the biggest breasts and watch the fireworks ignite!

  5. Gary Radnich , Duane Kuiper, Jon Miller, Ted Robinson, Greg Papa, Rich Walcoff, Steve Bitker, Kevin, 'the Rat,' Stan Bunger, and probably Mark Ibanez. I mentioned a lot of sports folks because they usually stick around for awhile. They don't come and go as often s the news folks do. Heck even that motor mouthed Bruce McGowan was on for nearly 20 years on KNBR!

    1. Wouldn't work. Urban working anecdotal Zito stories into each answer and 415Rich name dropping Herb Cain and Bill King at every opportunity will drag the show down.

  7. Roberta would be in Charo's square. And why is the biggest square, Felix Unger, wearing sunglasses?

    1. He had vision sensitivity and the extreme lighting made it worse.

    2. Thanks for that info, 12:05. Appearing in that setting was a demonstration of fortitude.

  8. Since humor and sharp wit is the main criteria for occupying a square (even though in the show the questions were provided beforehand) it pretty much leaves out everyone locally except maybe Ray Ratto, Ray Taliaferro, Frank Dill, Durst, Willie Brown, Damon Bruce, Bob Sarlatte, Javier Lopez and Aisha Tyler.
    There's 9.

  15. Is Cumulus about to declare bankruptcy?
Posted on September 21, 2015 by Art Stone
Jerry Del Colliano’s newsletter today says Cumulus has retained a bankruptcy law firm. That makes a lot of sense. Due to non-proportional voting rights, the Dickeys with only 5% of the stock can outvote the owner who owns 24% of the stock. I think this needs to be changed by Congress.

So the only way past this is to force the Dickeys to give up control. The lenders on the $2.2 billion in debt can cause that to happen. The threat of bankruptcy may be enough to convince the Dickeys to leave – if the company goes through bankruptcy, their 5% likely becomes worth $0.00 – better to own 5% of a company you don’t control than own 0% of a company you don’t control.

In the spirit of full disclosure, I bought 3000 shares of CMLS about two weeks ago. Maybe I can attend the bankruptcy hearings

  18. In keeping with the tradition that at least one 'Squares' panelist had to be a has-been whose best days were long in the past...Gary Radnich up top, in either the Wally Cox or Rose Marie spots.
BTW, Cox died in 1973, so that would most likely date the photo to when both 'The Brady Bunch' and 'The Odd Couple' were still in production. I wouldn't have guessed Charo would be on 'Squares' prior to about 1975 or '76, though.

  22. You people have an incredibly inflated sense of self importance. Most of us dont know and dont particularly care who you are. Good you mean so much to each other because all we want is the news, weather, and maybe the sports. Talking heads.
