  2. Dear SW in Santa Cruz--

In reference to your question of which Family Guy episode was it where Peter Griffin shit his pants at work, the answer is "Mom's the word" from Season 12.

    Sincerely,

    Seth McFarlane

    1. There's an idiot born every day. Your birthday is? It should be recorded for your future resume.

  3. I have mentioned before I am not in this industry. I was always curious how Dickey could keep his job. Just on he decision alone about KGO should have got him fired. Maybe it is good for the cloud company

    1. How could Dickey keep his job? Same way Jed York remains CEO of the Niners. Their families run the business.

  4. Get rid of Copeland & Thurston; their time has passed.

    1. Isn't there more than enough Angry White Man radio on the air already?

    2. Copie and Pat are the better shows on KGO and the only time I really listen. Chip's pretty good. Ronn should retire.

  5. Go back to talk? Who do you bring in? Name the hosts? The current ones won't pull in a large audience (IMHO).

I think there may be a desire to go back to the glory days but I don't think that is going to be achievable. KGO is a riddle that many be beyond solving. I'd welcome suggestions from 415 readers - what would YOU do?

  6. The return of KGO [mostly talk] 810 is a pipe dream. We are living in a far different world. Today content is CHOSEN by people, not DICTATED to them. And there are plenty of places to go to choose content.

Just look at what has happened/is happening in TV to see the impossibility of a return to the "glory days" of KGO. That's like asking the 3 major networks to return to their glory days had during monopoly. Or magazines, newspapers. Won't ever happen.

KGO is in big trouble, and I see no way to reverse the decline. The patient is on life support. There is no rabbit in the hat! Why try to pull one out?

  7. KGO reminds me of the Titanic.

  8. Wonder if Savage wants a radio station? A family-run enterprise. Wouldn't THAT be sweet revenge (against those old Lib KGO talk hosts who tried to end the beginning of his career). Wouldn't it be ironic!

Never say impossible. Doubtful ... but not impossible. Nothing ever is.

    1. Hmmm ... Savage could hire Swanson. Return the favor afforded the good Dr. by Jack years ago - to turn KGO around. No one but Swanson could do that.

    2. Savage has a lot of good guest hosts on while he's away. Perhaps he and Swanson could build a talk team. After all - who knows talk radio better than those two? Melanie could come on-board to help. Who can resist her charm, wisdom, wit and hard-charging activism?

    3. @4:25

I couldn't agree more! What will undoubtedly be the key to talk radio success in the acknowledged politically liberal center of California would be to go to All Angry White Men & Women, all of the time.

      NOT!

You can lead a liberal mind to conservatism, but you can't give it the lobotomy it would need to believe the bigoted hateful crap spewed out by people like your movement's new spokesperson, Little Donny Trump.

Gotta love that guy for taking the stage makeup off of the face of true Republicanism and showing it for the leperous facade that it is.

    4. What was Swanson doing when the station was falling apart? He has fewer answers than Savage who has terrible ratings.

  9. Marcus is on the board of directors as "Lead Director." Lew Dickey is CEO of Cumulus still through 2018. His brother John remains with Cumulus. Marcus is on the board from Crestview Partners Financial, a big Cumulus lender. Bay Area is a wreck for Cumulus. This guy looks for financial change and knows nothing about (or cares) about programming. Wouldn't be surprised to see sale rumors for much of cluster within two months. Marcus is a lightweight on radio, strong on finance, hence, his visit. He's meeting people to report back to Atlanta. Cuts "may" be made. No decision on "cheap" talk yet, but expensive news budgets will go. Other than that, not much happening -- outside of sale rumors and cost cutting due to finances, little in programming, for now.

  10. What's the scoop on the Dickster? Did he take another position? It appears this is more of a musical chairs situation. What's this new honcho going to come up with? He and the Dickheads burned the whole station down. You can't put out a good product by being a cheap bastard. You want to be the Chez Panisse of radio then stop using Subway level ingredients and a good start would be to get rid of Chef Ryan Scott first.

  11. Chef Ryan Scott ? ..... More like Chef Boyardee....same canned stuff....plop.

Cumulus employees will be checking out ... "Check-into-cash"
A money May day at KGO.

  12. KGO is KG-No. A blank spot on the dial would sound better than KGO of recent years. New marketing slogan idea...
"810AM - Best static on the dial."
