CBS Execs Set To Meet With KPIX Suits Soon To Find Out If There's a Plan; Those Crappy Yellow Pages Ads; If Cumulus Bought CBS Radio Would The World Come To an End?; Thursday Mid-Day Media Lunch

 MID-DAY Lunch File

*CBS Execs back in NY will make a visit to SF and inquire about KPIX's plan. They'll meet at the Hotel Vitale --right near 855 Battery. Funny, I was thinking PIX doesn't have a plan. Maybe the suits from Black Rock will make headway with Dandy Dan and mysterious Bruno.

*Those obnoxious Yellow Pages radio ads should be annexed to Siberia or KGO Radio.

*If Cumulus were actually able to buy CBS Radio please call God and ask if the world is coming to an end.

*A first? I went last night to have dinner at Tadich and was told "we're out of bread." Huh? Granted, it was near closing time but how can a restaurant like this one run out of bread? I mean, I've heard just about everything. By the way, just a few seconds later after my open-eyes befuddlement, bread was delivered to my counter. Amen.

*OK, if Paul Deanno seriously wants an anchor chair, he's got it but I hear he's really into the weather business. And good for Paul, one of the few decent professionals at PIX.

*KTVU newsroom grippers are at it again only they should know you don't mess around with FOX.

*Attention KGO Radio job applicants: KCBS is looking for a street side reporter. All interested stand in line and buy Jack Swanson a good bottle of scotch. Or a six pack of craft beer. That'll get you a return call.

*I wouldn't be surprised if Ronn Owens were to return to KGO in late September; as stated before here, I wish him and family all the best.

*Pat Thurston is perfect where she is right now.

*I don't know whatever happened to super Investigative Reporter, Spencer Michael, but I sure do wish he come back to KQED.

  1. Tadich out of bread? Maybe Karel & Christine were there before you. Hmph...couple of lardasses.

  2. I've said that I disagree with Pat's politics in the past. I've noticed others say the same things on here. I listened to her a bit last night and she came across as completely biased with her giggling and sneering at every anti-Trump comment and "fact" her guest read aloud. I would love to see her hypocrisy had she had someone reading Hitlery facts aloud on her show. She won't.

Someone commented on here the other day about how you left some mean anti Thurston comment up on the website or something along those lines at one time in the past. I did a little googling trying to figure out what they were referring to. I came across postings on this blog from 6 or so years ago where you told us your feelings for Pat (didn't care for her at all) and saw references to how she broke into radio. A little more digging and I came across numerous links regarding how in the mid to late 90s she sent around resumes with her bra size listed as an attribute in order to get hired locally. She lost all credibility with me after reading that. Ridiculous. KGO deserves her "talent".

    1. Wonder what the bra size is that was so worthy of being put on a resume.

If you done your research,The truth gets more better than that . ... Fwiw, I like Pat as long as she does not go off the deep end.,

    4. I love Pat. We need more liberals like her on the radio and maybe KGO has a chance to survive. Can't stomach the hate radio the Cons dominate up and down the dial.

    5. The notion that a talk show host shouldn't be "biased" is absurd on its face. Whether or not one has been a journalist in other venues, when you are hosting a talk show, it's all about the bias, the point of view. Pat, a fine talk host for a long time in these parts, needs no defense. I'm surprised to read here that she she's supporting "Hitlery". I listen to Pat often and her candidate is Bernie Sanders. I'm the only one on KGO who is a Hillary fan. I like winners.

    6. Christine, I've heard you mention your "ample bossom" more than once on KGO. Why must you and Pat be so titillating?

    7. @10:44 lib talk fails on the radio,.sorry.

    8. Idiot, know nothing millenials flocking to the Socialist Bernie Sanders like they did Barrack Obama just because they see a crowd and think that is the place to be. And Thurston supports him? That shows her level of intelligence, or lack thereof. She should go back to reading 900# sex scripts.

    9. You're making that up otherwise post links to said resume.

    10. I guess the SF Chronicle made it up as well?

"Most Vapid: Ratings-deficient KPIX Radio talker Pat Thurston (author of the classy radio resume that included her bra size), now bounced from mornings to radio's diaspora (early evenings)."

    12. Christine if she supports Bernie and not Hillary, I stand corrected. Even then, would she have someone knocking Bernie on her show? My opinion, I doubt it.

    13. In all fairness I really enjoy Pat's show when she's not doing politics. It's refreshing to see human interest type stories and not the same mundane bullshit we encounter daily on the radio. She is intelligent, witty and in the end I guess I'm glad we have her on KGO. I also enjoy listening to Chip for this exact same reason.

  3. Everything out here seems to revolve around the cost of the real estate and extent to which we seem to be living off of all the moneyed foreigners who come here from Asia and Europe.

Things are tightening up again. You can feel it. I feel it just driving to work and while I'm there. There seems to be progressively more economic pressure with each passing day. We were back east for about ten days and magically did not feel it there but come back and it's right where we left it.

This entire region is a bubble waiting to bust. Fall will be ugly.

    2. Who cares if she's a housewife? Sexist, jerk. She has a damn good show, is engaging, funny and hope she's around for a long time. You Cons can't have all of talk radio for yourselves.

    3. Good point, she is engaging and funny. I forgot to mention that on my other posting.

  5. It may be that KGone has done away with its "South Bay Bureau" - but they've found a pretty decent replacement: Kim McAllister. That gal is EVERYwhere in the early morning hours, reporting "live". And she has a young family. Hope she's getting decent pay (HAHAHAHAHAHA). I completely agree about Pat Thurston: kind of nostalgic times, with a good talk host in the evenings. And as for Ronn: certainly we all wish him well. I'm not optimistic about his return at all. Not because he doesn't want to or can't - but perhaps because his docs recommend that going back on the air may not be the best thing for him. We'll see.

    1. Breath of fresh air? Depends on which end the air's coming from. Stanky!!

    2. Copeland can't hold a large, returning audience. Who's gonna regularly tune him in? He's no Owens, Burns (RIP), or even Sussman. Fill-in OK, prime time host? No Way!

      Delete
    3. Can't hold a large audience? He's one of the best hosts on KGO in my opinioon. Very talented in every sense of the word. Not just in radio, but as a performer. I heard he's getting the legend of comedy award at comedy day in SF this year.

    4. The posters hereb rarely have anything good to say about people of color and women. It's not possible for me to take your comment seriously. The world is changing.

    5. @816pm..totally agree. A bunch of racist, sexist, homophobic jerks. Talk radio has to be a little more than old white guys on the air.

      Delete
    6. Absolutely NOTHING to do with his color or sex. NOTHING! Sickening that you would even interject that.

    7. One more thing - - shocking how our society is so decaying that a comment about BC that had no racial intent is twisted into a distortion of perceived racial animus. How can I prove that I didn't even think about his race when posting the comment? I can't. Until I'm blue in the face I can't. But that's all some people can see. I truly am saddened and pray that we some day get beyond this.

God bless Brian and his many talents. I also don't think Spencer C. would do well in a prime time slot. What "hidden intent" is in that comment???

      Delete
    8. Correction - - not Spencer C. The Spencer from Sacramento - - Hughes. What will you call that error? I don't listen to talk radio much any more. God bless you all.

    9. @5 am comments...Don't let that idiot get under your skin. It shows their lack of argument that they have to go right to the "old white racist republican etc etc etc". They've done it on other comments here as well. Just another of the sheeple that's too far gone to see reality. Go vote for your "hope and change" again and be sure to wipe your server clean, sheeple.

    10. 10:48, no one is scared of homosexuals.

There DOES seem to be a lot of Christophobia around here. Don't believe me? Just watch how many hateful comments are made about Christians or Jesus by the "tolerant" "Celebrate Diversity" set...
