Bay Area Does This Offend You?

  1. What is it? If he's suggesting that his skin is lighter in the picture then I'd say prove it. One picture is a studio still with high key lighting and the other is live on the set so it's apples and oranges. The lights are very different in each environment. If it is lighter then his network, CNN, is racist and he can quit to show his displeasure. But he won't do that. But to answer your question, exactly why the hell should it offend me? CNN is plenty offensive on its own.

    1. The original was him holding up a sign that said "Nigger"

    2. No s***, 9:47. Everyone knows what the original sign said. You just wanted an excuse to write it.

    3. @12:02 I wanted an excuse to "write" nigger? What would give you the idea that I wanted to type nigger? Because president Obama used the word nigger? Because Christine Craft used the word nigger on KGO radio the other day when addressing Obama's use of the word nigger?

News flash....it's just a word. You give it power by reacting the way you did. I gave it no power. Fyi I'm black.

    4. 1:31 PM illustrates what "gratuitous and excessive" use of a word looks like.
Similar to what children do when they learn a cuss word that causes the adults to jump. Similar to what new immigrants do while learning everyday English. Similar to what the inarticulate do when they have nothing else to say.

"News flash"...it wasn't just a "word" to the Blacks who were segregated, lynched and beaten because of it. And nice try but you inadvertently tripped yourself up and revealed that you're not Black. Trash, yes. Black, no.

    6. They weren't "segregated, lynched and beaten" because of a word.

  2. What offends me is cosmetic political correctness(the exact point of the President's use of the word "nigger" in his interview with Mark Maron). Neither am I fond of revisionist history, or the unintended gift just given to the Republican party. Then there's Walmart, which screws the American worker upside down and sideways and sells great volume of Chinese crap, while pretending to be all horrified by the flag of the Confederacy. Gee, do you think the governor of South Carolina will now end up on the Republican ticket? I'll bet Carly Fiorina is turning blue.

    1. It must be nice for you, Christine, to be in a situation where Walmart is not the company putting food on your table. Tens of thousands of others rely on them for that and appreciate the company they work for. And you're obviously wealthy enough to not have to buy Chinese "crap" but guess what...millions in this country are not as fortunate as you and they have to wear/use that Chinese crap because they can't afford what you can afford.

    2. Just another excuse for Christine to use the "N" word & get away with it. It's probably every other word in her house.

    3. James that made me laugh. Thank you.

On a serious note, I haven't met a young black man in a long time that didnt use the word themselves.

    4. Anita Hill and I had a conversation once about the totem pole of American status. Here's her quote, " Black women are the last niggers". I think you should go tell her what she is allowed to say, and not say. Good luck. James at 9:55 is just sure that I call my black daughter a nigger. Actually, she became my non-genetic daughter(now an emmy award winner) after our mutual black employer at a radio station in Sacramento, called her a nigger. I represented her in that successful job action .9:18 thinks I'm so rich and that's why I don't shop at Walmart. For the record, I don't shop at Walmart, because they screw the American worker. For you, that apparently is not an issue. To each, her own. I seem to recall a John Lennon song about women being the niggers of the world. Am I right?

    5. What does anything you just wrote have to do with Don Lemon and Obama's use of the N-word in the media besides name-dropping Anita Hill's name and your adopted daughter being called the name by a Black man and you winning a case? Every time you post on her, you're more self-righteous than the last. It's amazing.

    6. @8am Shes filling in for Ronn this morning telling her audience that Obama will go down as one of the best presidents.

    7. "Amazing"??? If everything is "amazing", then nothing is. My daughter wasn't called that name by a black man(why the capitalization?) at all. She was called that by a black woman, who happened to be her boss and my boss, which triggered an employment law issue. The original thread had to do with the appropriateness of black media types and the President using the word. Anita Hill was and is a black law professor and used the word in the context I related. I don't know what "posting on her" means, exactly, but it makes no sense.

  3. Don Lemon, just like President Obama, is a race baiter. The President couldn't handle it last week, when grieving relatives of the murdered Charleston 9 told the killer "I forgive you!". Too much lovey dovey compassion going on, not enough cities being set aflame, not enough angry black people marching aimlessly and blocking traffic. So Obama decided it was up to him to stir that pot one last time. Even that "Obama calling himself the N word on live air, did not have the full 'Dogwhistle Effect' he had hoped for. People are tiring of race baiters or seek to gain power by keeping everyone divided and upset with each other. Bastante! (enough).

    1. Americans are cowards afraid to have a conversation about race.

As soon as you bring it up the conversation is stifled by someone calling someone a racist (or better yet, a "race-baiter") for wanting to have that conversation.

    2. @9:23
Spot on. But it's not just Americans who are cowards. Aside from the Germans, no other country has the courage to squarely--and consistently--confront its past.

Very true...It is illegal to fly, or to own the Nazi Swastika Flag in Germany, which was also a symbol of Hatred, & Oppression over Jewish People...

But here in the good ole' U.S. of A we proudly fly the Stars, and Bars, which represented Slavery, & Oppression to continue over Black People...Smdh?!

  4. Street use of the "N"-word doesn't offend me any more than any other word used on the streets, for as Carroll O'Connor once eloquently said, "Goddamit, let's get some dinner on the table, let's go!!"

Uh, Rich, it's not just Bay Area viewers who are put off by this guy, which is why the meme displayed here is the best of those that hit Twitter after his recent ratings ploy.

  6. I didn't know CNN was still in business, just look at their rating's.

  12. An other black guy not offended by the contextual use of the word 'nigger'. They weren't calling anyone 'nigger' nor were they being called such. To use the word in context, it's just a word. I hate when a reporter says "N-Word". You are reporting something. You aren't calling me that. Just say it. To hurl it at someone, then there's a problem. Also while many of you may NEVER understand. There is a difference between two homies saying 'nigga' and someone saying 'nigger'. It may not come off as right . I grant that but that's the way it is. We all have our "inside words". This one just derived from a very negative word.

    1. Take from me, a black man in Marin, the truth is there is NO DIFFERENCE between the use of Nigga or Nigger. Both are equally contemptuous, equally meant to reduce and keep reduced the stature of the other person. Both are a reminder that 'misery loves company' as the speaker splashes about in pursuit of his imaginary victimhood goals.

    2. Liar, there are no black men in Marin.

  13. Sorry Rich, I have no idea what this "offensive" pic story is about. Just see a TV guy holding a pic of a black man. Don't watch CNN as it is crap...

I will have to Google or read through comments here to figure it out (something about "nigger"?), but I shouldn't have to...

Just do a better job with your headline stories. And like Christine says, hell with political correctness. We need to display or say the word completely if it is part of the news story... Avoiding saying it sounds so infantile, especially when that word is heard every day in a million rap songs on the radio,

    ReplyDelete
  14. Not surprised Christine is seemingly comfortable, using such an odious and demeaning term.

  15. So you want to take a slap at me? That would fit in with your all white posts and a couple pretending to be people of color.

  16. First and foremost, prayers for the SC victims and their families.

What I find insulting is that a mixed up white kid shoots a bunch of black people and the left and msm immediately paint all white folks as racist slave owners and all gun owners as unstable. Luckily, I'm immune to the politician's and media's lack of reasoning, perspective, and proportion on all matters.

Who exactly, and what show did "msm" paint "all white folks" as racist?
Don't just spew some nonsense ala Breitbart, Palin, Cruz, Trump or the others attempting to strike a nerve with frightened people without some examples. The majority of us are not gullible.
